Sorry if I'm a bit over-hyped. I'm just so delighted with this bike, I cannot express it. :inlove:

As I thought it might, my ride this morning turned on Racer's low fuel warning with the GT map in place.

I scooted over to the gas station within 3 miles of it turning on and filled the tank: Racer made 199 miles and took 3.98 US Gallons.

So, nominally a 5.5 US Gallon tank, just about right on 50mpg, and warning at 1.5 gallons left. Since I never really want to run an EFI pump dry, let's leave a half gallon in the tank and conservatively say Racer has a 250 mile range to empty including reserve. That's almost as good as the LeMans V was (256 miles to reserve, which on that bike would run 38 miles).

Racer is a traveler, definitely. Cruise at 75 to 80 mph in top gear is a very comfortable 4000-4800 rpm, and with that kinda range, we can really go places!

:D

Wow. How did you get that many miles on yours? I've never done any long sprints, but done a lot of spirited backroads and traffic lane splitting, but I'm always hitting the 130-150 mark before I get the light on.

For me, Racer has perfect ergonomics: My last ride was a little over a hundred miles, blast up the freeway to the far point about 40 miles, and then home again via the wiggles 60 miles. My butt felt fine, my arms and shoulders quite comfy, my thighs a little sore but that’s more from the amount of climbing around I do on the wiggles and my legs are not quite in shape for riding yet.

In my traditional touring pattern of one hour ride, five minute rest, I can go all day in comfort without even thinking about it. :)

I dunno: I just ride—with traffic speed on the freeway, fast as I’m comfortable on country wiggles, and whatever traffic will bear on in-town city streets. Second tank was also 50mpg, lit up the reserve light at 196 miles and put just shy of four gallons in. I’m coming up on the third tankful now ( just over 600 on the clock) and I think I got a little better on this tank since a good bit of it was on highway cruise.

I don’t rev it unnecessarily ... there’s no point to that ... because it’s a pretty flexible motor and I’m still on break-in (although I’ve been pushing past the nominal 4500 rpm limit for the past hundred miles). So far, no one’s complained that I was going too slowly... :D

I'm interested to see what sort of milage you end up getting once the engine is broken in.
The one time that I calculated MPG I calculated 50 MPG on my bike as well, but I'm running the GT 820cc-4V engine (about 3000 miles on the new engine).

Being something of a research student by nature, I have collected all the operational data and evaluated the statistics on all my cars and motorcycles for decades. I too look forward to seeing what Racer gets as the engine becomes fully run-in, as I use it every day and travel with it.

I'm encouraged so far by the ECU map that I got here from GT, but there's not been enough time yet to really say much beyond the numbers I have recorded. And Racer will get the Agostini mufflers soon too—and a new map for them. It will be interesting to see how that changes things.

But so far it's running beautifully and the fuel economy is very good. :)

LOL! I'll have to have someone shoot a few. It's a bit of a problem because I'm mostly a solo rider, and I'm usually the photographer when I'm with a group of people. But I'll see what can be arranged...
