Hi everyone!

Today I bought a norge1200, 2008 with mileage of 31k. I was disturbed by the loud clutch (when pressed). Is it normal in this motorcycle?

My B11(2205) clutch (28K MILES) sounded just the same. I have replaced the clutch items as part of my rebuild and it is lovely and quiet. Doesn't clunk into gear either. Whether mine will stay quiet, I have no idea so this is really not much help sorry.

Hey Paul!
Most all my Guzzi's are noisy sitting & idling but get quiet when the clutch lever is pulled in.

If your's is making more noise when pulled in you may have a throw out bearing going bad.

Trout, mine did that..make noise with clutch pulled in. But I thought it would be due to the clutch disks being lose when clutch pulled in and then rattling around on the inner gear teeth or the outer teeth due to wear. It has a rod in contact with the clutch centre, do you mean that or the clutch centre plate?

Thanks for the answers, so that isn't normal sounds for this motorcycle. Can the reason be bad gear oil or badly vented clutch?

The dual plate clutches are noisy, especially when pulled in. Get used to it - least it's not some duct tape noise...

I know these dry clutches can make a racket and still work fine as mine did. Well almost as mine did drag a little. It seems a bit of normnal wear can make a big difference in noise as I found out. IMHO. I had no other problems with the clutch apart from normal wear on the teeth and what I thought was a crack on the intermediate plate turned out to be a deep scratch caused after I had it out. I dont think it could be gearbox oil related as the clutch is separate. I dont think the clutch housing needs venting as such. It does have a little drain hole at the bottom should a seal start dripping and a way out. The timing mark plug is the only access and just for timing. No venting as such is needed.

I am with Oz and like I said pull the clutch in and it rattles, always has from new.

But just to be exact, from cold start up pull the clutch in and the rattle is very noticeable.
Once warm gearbox has a slight chatter at idle with clutch out in neutral, pull clutch in and rattle is still there but maybe not as loud.

Clutch rattle is different to gearbox issues. All gearboxes will benefit from changing the oil (with the correct amount and type) to allow the mechanisms within to work as designed.

My clutch is nigh on 105,000 km young, no issues.

NPS if you have drag issues, 2 things come to mind:
- the plunger pin in the lever has moved, or the lever bearing is worn. Try and get some cheap knockoffs, Pazzo, on the bay of fleas - much cheaper than replacing with genuine Brembo and their exorbitant prices;
- replace the clutch fluid in the system - though I would imagine you have done this already...

My clutch (apart from a loose pin some years back, and replaced by black shorty knockoffs) is still original including fluid; same as my brakes. But then again, I have "intent" to do it one day. i am still even on my original front pads, though the rear got a refresh set around 60,000 km. I tend to use brakes sparingly (or when some ****tard pulls out in front of me) and rely on the engine braking to do it's thing, as designed.

Yes, I replaced the fluid in the clutch lever and the oil in the box. Can these exchanges affect the rattling when the clutch is pressed? Is the manual how can I to pull the clutch?

No Paul, they rattle as soon as the clutch is pulled - it is just a Guzzi characteristic, with a twin plate clutch. Get a louder exhaust or ride faster and you won't hear it...

Thanks for the answer I am a little calmer because this is my first Motoguzzi, and such sounds are not familiar to me from previous motorcycles.
