Hi ..just doing a oil change on my 08 stelvio...as full guzzi service up until now...I just want to check its clock wise to tighten...anti to un-do ? For pease of mind...lol....as my 14 flute tool is to big...and my 8 flute is to small...so going down the screwdriver option..:wasntme: don't know what filter is on it now..

Stubborn filter removed ...with the tool recommended by john...:whew: was a HiFlow 551 that was fitted...but was on that tight the 14 flute filter tool would not hold it just slip. Many thanks again to John. IMG 20180624 132033

Not really..lol ...cus the filter at fault was already on my engine... Had correct tool...but was over tightened...way to much...tool worked well tightening new filter up..:)

I have a 2014 Stelvio NTX. I ended up laying mine over on it's side, and driving a screwdriver up inside the filter, and turning with a notched filter wrench. I got it off, but the torque value seems way too high. Removing an oil filter should never be that difficult.

It torqued to the recommended 15Nm they are easy to take off. Did you put the last filter on or someone else? See my first post in this thread.

Someone else installed the filter. One more thing, it Looks like I should have filled the filter with oil before installing it. I'm getting an Oil can symbol on my display panel. I'm thinking that means low oil pressure. Oh well, Lessons learned the hard way. Should have done a little more research

I bought a 14 flute tool which fitted the new filter, then I found the old one on the bike was 8 flute. and tight.
2 screwdrivers and a wrench worked though. Messy too.

I didn't fill my filter...as I forgot...but didn't course my oil light to come on...maybe you have a faulty sencer..

One thing I've noticed is all the filter caps are 3/8" drive. If you push the square drive into the socket past the little ball that keeps your sockets from falling off, the cap doesn't go all the way onto the filter. Enough to grab the edges but not enough to work.

I put the cap on the socket, give it a little tap to set it, then use the ratchet {turning counter-clockwise) to spin the filter off.

AND always install the new filter hand tight!

I use HF all the time with the 14 flutes. Some sandpaper folded in half between the cup and the filter would have gotten it out no problem.
