    Steering Headstock Bearings Look Bad

Great...another project for the winter. SO...anyone know of an acceptable double roller bearing set that will fit the 1400?? If I'm going to all that work, Im not going back to the Guzzi parts dept. Todd, Can you source a set and sell here? Kirk

    Oh No - Not Tires

Excellent information. Very detailed. Some of it I knew and some of it i was suspicious about, my gut always has said "don't go to the dark side." To paraphrase Dr. Ian Malcolm; "The dark siders always seem so preoccupied with whether they can, they never stop to think about whether they...

How good is Cali 1400 Touring for the passenger?

Stephen, well said, and I could not agree more. Your mods parallel what the Pillion Princess and I have done to ours. And yes the Corbin does need some time to "break in". That said, The Pillion Princess loves the Corbin with the 60L case and backrest. 4-500 mile days are just not an issue...

    Problems with first start

Todd may want to chime in here...but I don't believe the 1400 has a stepper like other Guzzis. May be a setting issue with the RBW throttle plate. Insufficient "closed" gap...Todd? Kirk

    Boiling clutch fluid

James, it is not the engine's fault. it is bad brake fluid. "Virgin" brake fluid should stand 450+ degrees give or take a few. Brake fluid (same as clutch fluid) is hygroscopic. Meaning that is will absorb moisture from the air. That absorption, causes the boiling point of the fluid to...

    California 1400 Reliabilty Opinions?

Martin, as I recall, the Caponord part was for the throttle side. This was for a 2014. both the 1400 and the Cap were 14's and the switch box on that year for the drivers side was identical. They both had the cruise control button. The left side was different somehow, but I dont remember...

    Transmission service question

What Paul said... You check the correct engine oil with the bike sitting upright, NOT on the side stand. The measurement of the trans oil should be no different. Leaned over, you could put in more oil than called for.

OEM Touring Seat after 8000 miles

We ride almost year-round as it only snows a couple of times each year here in North Texas. It does get cold however, so the Stock saddle was replaced with a heated Corbin saddle. The Corbin perch is heaven for both of us. The Pillion Princess (5' nothing and 110 lbs) claims it is the best...

    trail braking

Well said Phil; and I could not agree more. I have heard the argument for and against trail braking over the years, and, for street/road riding, I personally come down on the side of what is sometimes called "The First Rule of Danny Ongias"...or...Get your braking done in a straight line...

    Oh it has a fan

Likewise...cant say I have ever heard it and did not come on after a 25 mile spirited ride as a test. Like others will probably just set up a switch to manually to turn it on. BTW...which is the "HOT" inlet side of the cooler the right or the left?? Would love to set up a small oil temp gauge...

    Relays Under the Cover...?

First a note: On a scale of 1-10 my electrical knowledge is about a 3.5...so be nice. While chasing an odd "no start" situation on the 1400 T this morning, I pulled the right side cover off the bike and opened the two boxes that said RELAYS on top. There I found 6 identical relays, with no...

    Clutch Problems

Paul, it really is a "how she is treated thing". That is, assuming no mechanical issues with the throwout bearing, transmission, or a hanging clutch master cylinder. The mileage depends on carried weight, mods, passengers, heat and humidity, etc. Literally dozens of variables. That said...
