DIY cradle for California 1400 jack and roller: try or bail?

Pete, Great Job! YES, this will work with no problems. And do, see my post about rear wheel removal and replacement as already noted by John L. Hopefully it will save you some effort.

Old rider, new member - needs advice on first Guzzi

    1. Yes. The California TOURING has all this already present. No adapting to fit, no muss, no fuss. PLUS, you get cast wheels. Spokes wheels may look nice initially, but are a maintanence problem all the time. And, the Eldorado has a habit of breaking the rear fender mounts due to the extra...

Audace brakes self engaged - RESOLVED

Scott, Settle down. You invited me (us) to call you crazy. I complied and provided a reason for my comment. This has nothing to do with differing opinions.

Audace brakes self engaged - RESOLVED

Scott, You're crazy. The model has nothing to do with good design practices or poor design practices.

    First 300 miles…..after lockdown

I would usually fill up at around the 150 mile mark. The fuel gauge was typically at "E" by then and took about 3.5 gallons to refill. So, it wasn't actually empty (far from it) by I would really hate having to push an 800 pound motorcycle.

    Cracked Cal 14 Exhaust Parts

Yes, the muffler mounts DO have rubber inserts but that has nothing to do with allowing the crossover pipe to flex and move.

    Cracked Cal 14 Exhaust Parts

Peter, 1. No, I am sure there is no internal combustion engine that does not have to deal with thermal expansion. 2. Many exhaust systems are welded. However, the ones that do not have a problem with splitting, cracking and breaking due to thermal expansion have at least one point that is...

    Cracked Cal 14 Exhaust Parts

Chris, What Todd said... But, if you can swing it financially with the exchange rates, Todd offers an H-Pipe replacement her in the "Store" that I bought and installed on my California 1400. After the right side weld on the crossover breaking while on a trip I had it welded by the guys at...

How To Recover The 5 Digit Security Code

Good luck. Because, that is all you need to get the right number. 1:100,000 odds. Considering that it will take you about 30 seconds to try each number and maybe you work at it four hours each day, then you are only about 209 days away from getting the right number! To monetize this let's...

    Long Island, NY

Yup, isn't it nice! Was in the upper 60s here Saturday, but the DOT had salted the roads Friday evening in anticibation of snow Sunday that , so far, hasn't happened. (I don't take motorcycles out on salty roads)

My Experience With Sending My Dash and Keys to Carmo BV in The Netherlands For Repair

Scott, Good write-up of your initial experience with Carmo Electronics. I wasn't as clever as you in my packaging for my 2014 California dash and keys. I simply wrapped in lots of bubble wrap, tape and a tight fit in a stout corrugated box. I trust you will be very happy with their services...

How To Recover The 5 Digit Security Code

James, I posted my outcome with Carmo Electronics around four years ago... See: https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/user-code-screw-up.17453/page-2#post-149630 and, FYI, your 23 year old offspring probably owes you over $400 to get the problem straightened out now. :( dave

    4-legged kids

Scott, Sorry to hear about your dogs. Been through that several times in the past, and we too now have a new family member, Pepe', that we adopted just before Christmas. He's six years old and was waiting at the shelter for two years.... My experience with Carmo was very good...

    Oh No - Not Tires

I have run the Avon Cobras on a variety of heavy touring bikes and always liked them. I have also run one set of Pirelli Night Dragon tires on a bike I thought I was going to sell, but then changed my mind. I was impressed with them in the dry, rain and also gave decent mileage.

    Oil change interval

Do you have an owner's manual? If so, perform oil/filter changes at the manufacturer's recommended intervals. It is folly to believe that anyone here has more/better engineering experience with Moto Guzzi motorcycles than Moto Guzzi.

Anyway to remove start up code?

Don't do it..... If your bike starts normally, messing with the security code could cost you sending Carmo Electronics in the Netherlands to fix your screw-up. Don't ask how I know...

How To Recover The 5 Digit Security Code

Agreed. Moto Guzzi sources the dash on the 1400 from a vendor who manufactures it for them. I do not know who that may be, but this is a very common thing for vehicle manufacturers to do. The problem, as I see it, is that they seem to have not purchased the source code for the dash software...
