My V7ii leaked at the alternator cover which initially made me me think I had major issues. Find the rubber grommet on the cover where the wires come out. Go for a ride and have a look there. Clean it up first of course…
I see you are in Toronto. Go see George at Corsa Meccanica, tell him you are serious about a V7iii, and he will give you a bike for the afternoon. He did that for me (twice actually) when i was looking at a V7ii. I rode up to Caledon to find some twisty roads. I bought the bike...
That's why i did mine myself, even though it was under warranty. Doing it the 'easy' way like this means it will leak again. 3 years later, mine is dry.
I thought a 2014 had a dry alternator??
that is excessive...I guess you are a new rider? Here in Ontario where the winters are cold, the option of 6 month insurance is basically gone. Insurance is done on a yearly basis, with the understanding that most of us won't ride in the snow or when it's -10C out. I'm paying about $500 cdn...
+1 on the sintered EBC. That's about as good as it gets stock. I've bled them to death and the soft lever feel remains. Of course it all depends on what you have been used to (me mostly sportbikes). But I get by with them on the road.
But we have Princess Auto which is the same idea as Harbour freight. I use this lift which is relatively cheap. Set lifting points on lower cross frame rail behind exhaust (don't lift from the exhaust!)

Now I do drive it...
Hey - you get it from Corsa? Good guys they are...
If you didn't change the engine oil before you put it away, now's the time. Check the level and make sure there's not too much or too little in there. Check it with bike level. I got one of those drive in wheel chocks from Princess Auto for...
My experience: I put 500 mL in and it puked out of the breather after running the bike hard on the highway. So i drained it, and put in 450 mL. 10,000km later, and with a lot of high speed running, it hasn't puked. So i conclude that the 500 mL applies to a dry box.
I have the same bike, and can tell you it is sensitive to oil qty. I added 1/2 litre after 1st servicing, and it puked after running for several hours at 70+mph. So i drained it and put 450 ml in. Hasn't puked yet (1 year). But i haven't run it as hard as on the prior trip. So far so good.
My V7ii leaked from the alternator cover. Although it was under warranty, i fixed it myself by removing the cover, cleaning it, and resealing. I sealed completely around the grommet before installing. Warning - the abs module makes getting the cover top screw out difficult. I was able to...
