    Rode two new Triumphs

No longer quite the same three-way, I traded in my 2017 V7III Special three weeks ago for a 2017 Honda CB1100EX. The wife's R1200R was traded in on a new, 2018 Honda Goldwing, and my 2013 Suzuki Burgman 650 was sacrificed for a nearly new 2015 Sportster XL1200C. I still have the 1200 Thruxton...

    Guzzi Helmets

I bought this Guzzi helmet about two years ago because it matched my V7III Special perfectly, but I won't wear it. I wear full-face modulars. I ordered it from Italy, and I think, with shipping, it cost something like $280. It is not worth $280. It states on a tag inside the helmet that it is...

    Rode two new Triumphs

As it turned out, I bought a 2018 Thruxton instead of a Bonneville T120. 1600 miles on it in the first month, love the thing, definitely one of the most fun motorcycles I've ever owned. Very pleased with it. Great handling, plenty of power, and killer good looks. And it compliments the V7III...

The Miles are adding up... Three weeks in!

I'm getting a consistent 50-55 mpg out of my 2017 V7 III Special. Today's fill-up was 4.2 gallons for 223 miles. The low fuel light came on at 218 miles, but at a 5.5 gallon capacity, there should still be about 1.3 gallons sloshing around in there. Nothing I would call 'city riding' involved...

Performed my first V7 III oil change.

    I'll check it. Thanks.

What's the difference? ... oil filters for V7III

Where's the artached spring that's on one end?

Damn! I better order that new Michelin tomorrow.

As a practical matter, as long as the specs are similar, I don't have any hesitation with mixing tire brands on either end of the bike. The tires are as good as the least of the two, and if both are trusted brands, I'll never know the difference. One tire does not 'communicate' with the other...

Performed my first V7 III oil change.

Didn't go too bad, rolled the V7 onto my trusty Harbor Freight lift table late yesterday afternoon, dumped the sump oil and removed the old filter. Then I left it on the lift and walked away from it, letting the old oil drip out all night. I went to the nearby Dollar General store and bought a...

Damn! I better order that new Michelin tomorrow.

The Pirelli in front is probably about half-life, and I'm going to run it a while longer. I'll replace it in the spring with a matching Michelin....unless I decide at the last minute to go with Avons, front and back.

    Just a bit of painting...

That's EXACTLY what I had been thinking of doing with my blue Special's injector covers, and now that I've seen yours, I'm definitely doing it. Thanks for the preview!!! I'm also going to remove the black crud from the cylinder fin edges.

Damn! I better order that new Michelin tomorrow.

4600 miles and that demon is toast...

    Downsizing

We currently own five bikes, an 800 lb Indian Vintage, a Harley Softail Deluxe, a BMW R1200R, a 700 lb Honda Shadow Aero, and my V7 III Special. Last fall, we sold our 2008 GL1800 Goldwing...925 lbs. I'm almost 67, and I just got tired of shoving that GL around the garage, and I was feeling a...

V7 III stone vs special decision

I have just under 5000 miles on my 2017 V7 Special, and have not experienced one problem with it so far. Between my wife and myself, we've owned about eighty motorcycles of all kinds over the years, and currently have five, and I must say that regardless of cost and power, I would rate my blue...

    V7 III - Has arrived

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I like the appearance of the stock mufflers on my III Special. That's not to say that I won't change them out for something that brings out the Guzzi twin sound a bit more, but I would prefer that they are similar sized slip-ons, not shorties.

    V9 vs V7 III Special vs T120

Without looking it up, I would guess that the 1200cc Triumph T120 has about 25-30 more HP than the V7 III, and substantially more torque, but it's also about $3500 more than a Guzzi Special. As I see it, the Triumph's T-series retro stylng is mid-1960's, while the V7 III Special's is...

    V9 vs V7 III Special vs T120

My V7 III ? I haven't ridden a V9, but a friend bought a new Roamer last week, and he's already planning to replace the seat. I'm old and fat, about 5'10", and my tender, worn out butt is easily offended by a lot of motorcycle seats, but have no complaints about my V7 III seat after 4000...

    V9 vs V7 III Special vs T120

I have a new, blue, V7 III Special, and will very likely buy a T120 in the spring (if I can sell my Indian, that is). Having both will be great! That new Triumph 1200 is driving me nuts.... I'm 5'10", two hundred and fif......never mind....too fat, and feel that my V7 is perhaps one of the...

    V7 III oil use question.

I haven't done anything with my oil since the dealer's break-in service at around 600 miles. It has 4000 on it now. It was just a general question, not specifically about my personal bike.
