V7 Stone smooth out the ride tips wanted

Wind is one thing, and a big thing. Shocks, seat, riding position another. Then there's engine noise adding to the wind noise and vibration in the bars, seat, foot pegs. I really love this bike around town, or 15-20 mins on the freeway to downtown.

V7 Stone smooth out the ride tips wanted

I just did a down and back from Sac to San Jose and back in a day. Around 300 miles all up. I took a mixture of roads though delta by the Sac river, and freeway, some 99, some 580, some 680. I find up to about 45-50 MPH, on the country single lane roads, the wind is fine. Traffic is...

V7 Stone smooth out the ride tips wanted

I find it exhausting. Probably because I'm still new to this. Seems like better shocks, better seat, less vibration, perhaps a windscreen. To be honest, my bike is running awesome. Real champ. It's me that is whining.

V7 Stone smooth out the ride tips wanted

Are you referring to any motor bike, or just Guzzi's or just V7's? I'm looking to do only 2-3 hours, freeway, occasional lane splitting, regular cruise 70-80 MPH, may be faster at times, and not feel sore and tired when I get there. Is this possible, or am I'm dreaming?

V7 Stone smooth out the ride tips wanted

Thanks for the reply John. Well, I broadened my search to the whole site, instead of just v7. And it looks like replacing the foam with something firmer like closed cell memory foam would a good first step. I'm now try to score some of that of foam.

V7 Stone smooth out the ride tips wanted

Hi all, Bike is going strong. Love the ride up to about an hour, then the butt pain starts to set it. Has the stock V7 Stone seat and shocks. 2013 - Has anyone rebuilt their seat with memory foam? - Custom seat successes? - Anyone run a seat pad they'd recommend? - If you can only...

    V7 Stone range?

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the feedback I'm the guy with the leak on the bell housing; I am new to motor bikes, and it shows. I'm learning slowly, and loving it, thanks.

    V7 Stone range?

Anyone know if a 2-3 hr ride at 60-70 mph is something a V7 should handle 2+3 days / week, or is it better as a short range, perhaps townie bike, only?

    Is the v7 Stone (2013) a keeper?

Current plan is to work on winning with this bike, not letting it beat me. But, if I loose, buy a Honda, not another one of these. But, there is something really sweet about this ride. Seems worth trying a bit longer.

    Is the v7 Stone (2013) a keeper?

LOL, you sound just like someone else I know. So there's two you that think I should sell. Did you jump the Guzzi ship for a Honda? I do see your point. My next post might be "how do I completely delete my GuzziTech account and all post content?"

    Is the v7 Stone (2013) a keeper?

Hopefully someone can make sense of these by filename. I downloaded these manuals from here at GuzziTech. v7-service-13.pdf - ought to have gear oil details, doesn't 2013-v7-em.pdf - details about the engine v7-om-13.pdf - like service, but less detail v7-parts-13.pdf V7-clutch-adjustment.pdf...

    Is the v7 Stone (2013) a keeper?

good idea - blow test - will do that. As for overfilling, after the oil started appearing around the inspection cap, I put the bike in a front wheel stand, which had it level side to side, took the gear oil cap off, and a couple teaspoons dribbled out. But, perhaps the oil has been seeping...

    Is the v7 Stone (2013) a keeper?

I don't believe the transmission was over filled. I do think synth is in it. Wouldn't the breather need to be clogged to cause pressure at the seals? I'm going to replace the gear oil, clean it up, and see what happens next. I've been led to believe that if the clutch doesn't slip...

    Is the v7 Stone (2013) a keeper?

Yup, I know the 1st owner. He is trying hard to convince me it's a nightmare in the making. I believe he's being honest, and since has first hand experience with the bike, then perhaps he's right. But, no one can see the future. I'm new to the game, so everything is a chance to learn...

    Is the v7 Stone (2013) a keeper?

Thanks for the reply. What an awesome story. Well, if I didn't like the bike, enjoy riding it, look forward to riding it, I wouldn't have even bothered to even post. I'm being lobbied to dump it by a previous Guzzi owner here in town. I not going to smack my head against the wall...

    Is the v7 Stone (2013) a keeper?

Hi all, I am the 3rd owner of a 2013 v7 Stone. It has a rear seal leak, gear oil, most likely. Bike is not under any warranty, and dealer is 1 hr away, and expensive and says a 2 week turn around. A more local non-certified tech says about $1200 to take the engine apart, replace seals...

Oil around button right side under head, please advise

Current plan, before I do anything major, (since I don't know if it's engine oil, or gear oil, for sure,) I cleaned it. Now there's no oil on the engine. I replaced the plug, and now I'll watch it. Interesting thing is that neither the engine oil nor the gear oil seem to be under filled...

Oil around button right side under head, please advise

some say the book is wrong or misleading, have followed it with problems. Some people say too much will blow the seals; now you say don't under fill and I'll have other problems. Perhaps this isn't the right bike for me......... Also, I'm not 100% sure this is gear oil, ugh.

Oil around button right side under head, please advise

ok, when I change the gear oil, is it ok if the front wheel is 2-3 inches above the ground in a front wheel stand? The bike would be level side to side. And, as I understand, I should fill until it's filled up to the opening, and no more. Or perhaps it should be less? What does experience...

Oil around button right side under head, please advise

Everywhere I look it's ~$1.50 for the plug and $10-$20 for shipping.
