crank oil seal -- DIY time and what parts?

I guess the oil level when static is well below the crank shaft, plus oil is thicker when cold. Also when hot all the metal parts expand. The dealer who did mine said the bolts were only finger tight holding the seal assembly to the back of the engine.

crank oil seal -- DIY time and what parts?

You’re welcome Money back was via the dealer that I bought the bike from, was a Guzzi dealer, whether they got anything from Piaggio I don’t know. The small claims process in the UK puts the responsibility on the dealer. He didn’t argue too much, but it did take 18 months to get the cash!

crank oil seal -- DIY time and what parts?

Search some of my threads from 2010 ish. My 08 had the seal problem, short holes, long bolts, it’s a latent defect from Guzzi. I eventually got the money back from the dealer. I have the bulletin somewhere. In the UK we can use the small claims process which I what I threatened. It’s an engine...

Charging, lights and various permutations - confused

Thanks Brian, Sounds like that fuse then, all started working ok once I disturb the aux fuses, so a bad connection is the most likely culprit. I took them all out and cleaned up.

Charging, lights and various permutations - confused

All working again now, but don’t know why? Had a poke around this afternoon. Relays ok, fuses ok, battery not charging as volts were steady at 12.4 and didn’t move with revs. Ran the bike from a car batttery, no change, still no headlights, so not a low volts issue. No volts to headlights...

Charging, lights and various permutations - confused

Thanks Todd, the battery is a Yuasa YTX20Ch-BS, looks to be the original, there’s nothing in the paperwork receipts, I’ve owned it 18 months. So just a simple battery then? Why would the bike run, not power the headlights and allow the aux lights to come on.....insufficient volts to the...

Charging, lights and various permutations - confused

2011, big tank model. Last weekend, out for a ride around 2 hours, rode fine, stopped a few times for a photo or 2. Stopped about 1 mile from home for a chat with a friend, 10 mins later, no start. Bumped it and rode the final mile, running rough though. At home, wouldn’t start, it did off one...

    Tinted/semi tinted Screens.

Could you use that tinting that is applied to car windows, should be possible. My 2nd Gen Stelvio gets a lot of reflected light off the dashboard at night, I considered tinting the screen with something non reflective. Be interested to see how you get on

    Spine Registry & Pic Thread

I've always liked the Centauro, I've a Stelvio but I have model Centauro, that's the closest I've come to owning one. The sound is great (on the video) I think the dark grey is better, the yellow is a bit too yellow.

FORKS! How to fill with oil and re-assemble?

John, where did you get you seals from, OEM or pattern? There seems a big variation in cost

FORKS! How to fill with oil and re-assemble?

Given that I've had a weep on the left side for 5 years and ridden properly off road, being buried in mud, through rivers etc then I think I'll go for new seals, £25 ish I think for seals and dust caps. After that I'll get a seal cleaner. I'm also going to get some clear helicopter bathe to...
