I just change mine as part of the fork oil change its surprising how bad the oil gets over time and its an easy job, I change mine every third service 18k. 25 quid for seals and dust boots fresh oil makes a big difference to the way it rides, and I do them on my time scale, from memory my dust...

    guess that noise....

The valve covers should not make any physical connection (IE are rubber mounted) to the head as a sound attenuation measure but are earthed to screen poss HT interference that's my understanding of it

    guess that noise....

The crankcase volume stays fairly constant as one rises the other falls the breather is mainly to cope with combustion blow by the rings condensation forms where there is a difference in temp and there is moisture present given in the UK there is nearly always moisture present increasing oil...

    guess that noise....

The breather draws from the filtered side of the air box and I run a k and n type filter on mine, the filters worth fitting as a performance upgrade but won't stop this happening if you look at the breather there is an oil separator up by the steering head and this mayo doesn't appear in that...

    guess that noise....

Just changed the oil on mine this morning after yesterday doing 240 miles, main roads, average speed 57mph, oil mayo in both covers I think the problem is not so much oil temp but the cold spot on the front of the valve covers causing the condensation just my impression I'm over worrying about it

Has anyone seen this cam set up on a Stelvio before?

That's a bugger Mark, is the head off, it should be a simple job to pressure test the oil gallery, how long does it take to leak this much oil. Have you cleaned it off and seen how long it takes to reappear. Porous head can only be a manufacturing defect, fingers crossed for you. I too have...

Has anyone seen this cam set up on a Stelvio before?

Hi Mark is there oil on the outside of the plugs? I think the tide seals requires the removal of the cam carriers, I had what looked like a similar leak which turned out to be a split breather pipe on the oil separator behind the steering head oil runs down the outside of the pipe onto the rear...

    stelvio cylinder compression

You could try checking how far the piston rises in the cylinder if it comes up short it would indicate wear in either of the rod bearings, under power the play would allow the piston to rise further poss. causing your valve/piston to touch
