I couldn't find a general V7 859 suspension thread so I'll post this here. A little while ago I decided to upgrade the rear shocks and having the Givi tail rack needed to find a solution that clears their far too large mounting brackets. After searching for some time and finding no good options...
After adding approximately 1" to the seat height the bars have never felt at the right height so I finally decided to make some riser spacers. These are approximately 1/2" tall, forget the exact measurement. But now the bars are where I want them. I used ~1/2" longer bolts.
I decided to try the Clearview taller/wider windshield that mounts on the OEM Guzzi touring screen brackets as I already had that setup.
The one I have is 16.5" high by +4" wide I believe based on my sales invoice, which unfortunately the item code is shortened in the invoice PDF. I had called...
I can understand your frustration, it makes little sense from a tuner's business viewpoint. It seems like Rexxer's approach is far better if it worked with this ECU.
I also don't like their business model, buying a unit for every bike vs one unit and paying for the applicable maps.
On the...
I'm planning on running the Conti Attack 3s also in the sizes you choose.
A riding buddy has a set on his V7III and is super happy with them.
I'm just waiting for the stock rear to wear down enough I can justify replacing it and the front. My front isn't balanced very well from the factory so...
I want to replace the disco ball tail light with the earlier more traditional shaped V7 tail light assembly, or possibly another smaller more traditional shaped light.
Has anybody tried to mount and connect up the older V7 tail light assembly? Or a nice alternative?
OK, didn't do the clicky, my bad. I have used the Torque app on my phone and a ODBII adapter for doing the same with my Ford Transit van. I should try that setup on the V7 just to see if it can read it, probably.
What is "IFP"? Just inverting them might be the easiest solution. I know it adds unsprung weight but....
I'd love to get a better straight on view of them so I might do a photo overlay to see how bad the interference is and how much the rack mount might need to be modified.
I saw that the Matris shocks were now on the website, been waiting for those.
What I'm trying to figure out is whether the piggyback reservoirs will hit the Givi tail rack I have installed, I'm thinking yes. The question then becomes, how much do I need to modify the Givi rack to create suitable...
Any updates? It seems like I should wait until Todd's maps are on UpMap. Or.... does it make sense to try the GC map first?
I'd also like to know about any service minder/code reading capability of the unit, if any. For the price it should at least read OBDII codes, that's a no brainer.
Turning...
Yup, there are more than a few issues with the stock map. To be honest it's one of the worst stock maps of any of the bikes I've recently purchased. The stock mapping in my Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is 80% better.
It sounds like good progress, getting close. I'll wait a bit as I don't see your maps on UpMap yet, probably "in progress"... as it were these days.
Hopefully more info about any service functions the UpMap unit can perform, hopefully some.....
I wish it was the opposite, you buy 1 UpMap unit...
I wanted to ask if anybody knows if the V7III tail light assembly will retrofit to the V7 850?
I like that one a whole lot better than the huge disco light on the V7 850.
OK, sounds good.
A friend of mine in Italy that's doing custom stuff for Ducatis and has his maps on the UpMap website for purchase.
I wish you could buy one UpMap device and then just pay for the maps as needed on whatever bike. But they want a purchase of a device per bike, then the map...
I see the "UpMap" ECU remapping device is listed on the store page for the V7 850. Is this the route you will go for your dyno developed maps? Or this is an alternative / optional route?
I have the factory center stand but modified the kick lever to be closer into the pipe. It might suit the stock pipes but with the Mistrals it stuck way out, so I cut out about 1" or so to move it in and welded it.
I have Moto Guzzi's "Touring" windscreen (part# 2S001569), but honestly I'd call it more of a Sport screen myself.
It fits and looks nice but is only meh on blocking the wind. I compare that to other small screens like Dart etc I have on other bikes so not comparing to a tall Givi etc. I think...
