V7 II ENGINE FAILURES & CLUTCH ADJUST NOTICE!

Been a long time since I logged on here but was drawn by an alert of a new post. I just wanted to comment that I believe the talk of missing thrust washers from the factory (which I had often repeated) may have been a misunderstanding from the start. Last summer/fall when the Guzzi demo...

    HB center stand install?

I installed mine in my buddies garage (without most of my tools and without my lift) when we were staying with them while we're between houses. So, at least on the MKI, no lift or jack was remotely necessary. There was no problem with it on the side stand.

    V7 Stone range?

Ok so this seems to come up a lot. Personally as much as I love my V7, it's low on my list of highway bikes. But that's only because I have better tools in the box for that job. Both my Sporty and, more importantly, my RK, are more stable and comfortable on the highway. That said, my V7 has...

    Differences between 2016 V7II Racer and 2015 V7 Racer..?

Oops yes, forgot to include that.

    Differences between 2016 V7II Racer and 2015 V7 Racer..?

Correct if I'm wrong, but I thought the year/mk differences were a little different. IIRC: 12 (EU) / 13 (NA) - 14 = MK I 15 = MK I, but wet alternator 16 = MK II revised ergos, ABS, TC 17= MK III new motor with hemi heads, bunch of other chassis changes.

    V7 loose fasteners

Can't help with Mk II or III, but in the Mk I's there were two relatively common concerns: * Exhaust Head Pipe nuts (at cylinder head exhaust ports) * Fuel Tank Rubbermount (Puck) bolts. I and a number of local V7 riding friends lost out or found the former loose. I confess when I checked...

    V7 III and cold temps...

Sweet! Glad to hear you're enjoying!

    Headlight Upgrade

Ohh, that's good to know. I hate the way the OEM one mounts. I'll keep that in mind thanks.

    Headlight Upgrade

Todd, those are both for mounting in the cheap stock bucket right?

Is it normal that I have to warm up my V7II 2016?

Hmmm, I disagree with your initial premise. Although yes tighter EPA and EU regulations have made it harder for manufacturers to make air-cooled bikes run perfectly the I don't think many modern bikes NEED a tune to make them run correctly. Though I will admit there may be benefits to said...

V7 III Stone Dies in 1st Gear

Or stand not fully retracting, weak or damaged spring, or other mechanical fault. I've heard of Cali models cutting the ignition over bumps when the stand moved. I removed my switch on my Cali Jackal early on, but I understand why people would not want to.

    V7c Valve Clearance

The problem with terms like "loud" is that it's too subjective. We really have no way of telling if loud to you is normal to Guzzi or if you have a problem. I'd characterize normal as noticeable, especially cold, or maybe gentle when warmed. But those are subjective too.

    Used V7ii or New V9/V7iii

Todd's reply makes a lot of sense. Me, if I was talking 2-up with any frequency I'd choose the V9 first, the V7III second, and the V7II last, but I'm a big guy.

Detonation (spark knock, pinging, etc) when hot

This isn't a Harley BT, < 3000 rpm is too low for much of a load or hard acceleration in most higher gears. And of course fuel octane matters, but so does ambient temp, humidity, altitude etc.

Buying my First Motorcycle - Moto Guzzi V7 ll Storage Concerns Help?

Sorry, late to the party. But you did say this is your first bike right? So as a fan and owner of 5 different HB topcases and panniers I'm saying facts not in evidence. (Unless you're only looking at the soft leather HB bags, but they have more to offer then just that). Also there are HB...

Limited dealers, long wait times for repairs...

I remember when Coopersburg Eurosports WAS part of Martin Moto.... Hell I remember when Martins was about 10 miles south of their current location. Anyway I don't know what it is with Coopersburg. Massimo seems pretty knowledgeable and treated us very well with Jenn's Duc (I told Jenn when she...

    V7 fuel filter WARNING!

So to be clear, you replaced a dozen the failed or you assume would have failed? Yeah, the manufacturer said it's rated/designed whatever for diesel. That doesn't mean they KNOW it will fail if used in something else, no? 5000+ bikes per year, times then years. I'd think we'd see a few more...

    V7 fuel filter WARNING!

Todd, I want people to make up their own minds based on the actual data at hand and not assumptions. When I've asked for first hand reports on WG I've gotten less than 4. If this was a fait accompli we would have MANY more reports in a decade.

    V7 fuel filter WARNING!

Chupa, here's the thing. THAT'S the filter I tested to 120 psi without failure. And if your filter was cracked before removal you should have had running problems due to low pressure. Red, I'm not defensive in the slightest. Butt I am trying to combat the sky is falling panic that this issue...

How do I depressurize fuel lines?

It's not a bad idea to crank it once or twice afterwards too. Conversely you can unplug it first, then crank it a few times for the same effect.
