    B11 stalls at idle

Ok, post mortem here. LEARN from my mistake. So, I tested the resistance the sensor and could not get a consistent reading, so we ordered a new one. Before I installed the new one, I measured the tips to compare them in order to make an adjustment to the shims. Well, I got a different...

    B11 etc. gas tank install

Seems we always struggle to get a gas tank bolted back on 'cause of the swelling I suppose. So my buddy developed a fool proof method. He uses a couple of mallets. See the pic for configuration. Rotate the rear mallet towards the front. This allows you to see into the bolt hole and check...

C14 Stainless Steel Valve Cover Bolts

Check out the galvanic scale or series. The metals furthest apart have the greatest reaction. Zinc is just about the same distance from aluminum as active ASTM A-304 stainless steel. Same experience as Todd, never had an issue with SS bolts. I've used nothing, loctite, and anti-seize with...

    B11 stalls at idle

My understanding of the stepper motor is limited, I don't know if what you describe is just at start up or if the stepper regulates the idle throughout the operating temperature range. I don't get it. There is no way to make the gap smaller only to make it bigger by adding shims. Found...

    B11 stalls at idle

Dave you were sort of right. I pinched the stepper supply hose right after it came off the start up phase and the bike stalled. So, does that mean the stepper is stuck open? Seems like it should run better with the hose pinched. I pinched it again after the bike warmed up a bit and it took...

    B11 stalls at idle

thanks for the manual John. My Buddy had located a procedure for setting the gap at the cam sensor. Basically, it says to use a washer on the end of the sensor to make contact with the cam then to use a feeler gauge to measure how much the sensor plate is lifted off the engine block. Then...

    B11 stalls at idle

Yeah, think so. If by 'action' you mean twisting the throttle. Watched the TPS value roll up then back down, seemed to settle at a stable base value. But I'll hook it up again tomorrow. Update: There were two shims originally, .8mm and .6mm. The .6 shim was a little warped so I went back in...

    B11 stalls at idle

Have an odd one here. Just got done with a clutch job on my buddy's B11. Everything went well putting it together. Bike runs while driving. But stalls after its at idle for a minute or so. Also seems to be misfiring at start up. Little history: Was running great before the project was...

Free Play - Clutch & Brake Foot Pedal

Hi Timmy, Welcome, you have good taste in bikes. Not so sure about it being a 'beast' though. Your bike will take you a lot of great rides without the traffic tickets -or at least less tickets than you'd get on a rice rocket. 1. The clutch lever gap adjust is on the cable where it meets the...

    V7ll Racer cell phone mount?

Here's the Ram mount model I use. My buddy used the spider type until he saw this one. If the spring were to break in this model I would be able to use a zip tie to hold the phone on. Use one hand to load and remove the phone. The mount arm is a u-joint type that can be adjusted.

    Bon voyage and all that...

I remember when I first came across your diagrams, I was so happy I didn't have to photo copy the manual anymore and trace the trouble lines with a color pencil. Thanks for your help. Fare well and hope you find something new just as enjoyable to do.

    V9 Opinions

Yup, in a Russian roulette sort of way except it's an Italian machine. V7/9 is worth the game for what you get on a country twisty road.

    Engine Guards

My guess is that the sliders will do more than that. They'll probably handle a low side at a moderate speed and preserve the bike enough to pick it up and ride it home with out trouble. Happened to me more than once. Anyway hope you never use them.

    Dry Clutch Replacement on Norge

Found this to be true. We tried again pulling the motor w/o the trans and also took out the drive shaft. Tilted the motor/trans forward and could not find a way to leave the trans on the frame. The right head touches the frame motor hanger. If one happens to have the right head off - then I...

    Engine Guards

Unfortunately, I've tested crashbars/guards too many times. The stucchi head guards on my B11 saved the head, got away with a superficial abrasion. But the problem with those guards, is the it caused more work to do a valve adjustment. Looks like none of the options above have that problem...

    Looking at Purchasing a 1980 1000 SP

Glenn, If that local 1000SP doesn't work out. I have an '83 1000SP-NT as pictured in my avatar at Independence Pass in Colorado. It's not currently for sale but I would consider an offer from a guzzi nut. I had it restored at Moto International in 2000, I've only put about 13 miles on it since...

    1984 Lemans III

Pat, I'm glad you like the T-3 and that you're taking care of it. The new sidecovers look great. You might want to buy my old T tank and have it painted to the original T-3 scheme. Once you get a new rear tire on it with a normal profile she should handle a little better. If you ever need...

    V9 Opinions

Yes, but he 850 T is a much better looking bike. The T proportions are just right - bellisimo. If MG had a bigger market share, and new T with the aesthetics of the first 2 Ts placed on the Bellagio platform would be great.

    Installing gilardonis question

It's been quite a few years but I remember using assembly lube. May not be the right thing to do but was probably influenced by my drag race buddy.

    Dry Clutch Replacement on Norge

Well we're not having the same luck as you. Got the timing cover off and started moving the motor forward splitting it from the trans, and found that it the right (forward) cylinder hits the the frame tube where the motor mount bracket connects. We wiggled and wiggled. Measured the remaining...
