    Last time I saw a BMW clutch it was like a car's one, so no rattle. The Guzzi clutch has three plates rattling around when disingaged. To love a Guzzi you need to love that clutch rattle. I never really liked it, nor the looks and comments from those in the know.

    Fair enough on a desert island, but swapping relays may not prove that one of them is faulty because relay faults are often intermittent. As I suggested earlier, since they're inexpensive items it's best to replace them.

    Peload never stiffens a spring. Preload is a tool to set ride height. Reducing front preload will lower the front ride height and consequently steepen the fork rake angle and reduce stabilising trail, which will "quicken" the steering. Increasing rear preload will have the same effect...

    CARCs eligible for recall lacked a black pressed-steel protective-thrower fitted between the wheel hub and the CARC face. If peering between the wheel spokes you can see the CARC oilseal (often reddish) then it's one of those. The replacement CARCs came with the thrower too.
