Hello all

My Guzzi v7 Stone (2015), after some heavy mods. Next one will be about adapting an aluminium rear fender, in order to get rid of the uggly plastic original one !
Most appreciated mod : the Ikon rear shocks, and the front Matris full kit. Now we're talking about suspension !
Most tough job: wiring the motogadget tiny speedo to the original wiring loop
And yes, it's a homemade central stand, for lifting the front wheel. Thank you youtube.

Hello Lolobebel - I'm in the process of installing the motogadget tiny speedo. Are you aware there is a plug and play harness kit available for that? Aside from installation, How do you like the speedo so far, and what did you do with the abs lights?

Hello Spumoni,

Actually Baak is selling the plug&play harness kit, but I found it way too expensive; so I did it myself.
I've been using the tiny speedo for months, and then I got ired of the (too) small leds and letters.
Then I sold it on ebay and purchased the Koso D64 (analog RPM + digital speed). It is fully compliant with V7 OEM speed sensor (Hall effect) and RPM signal.
The ABS lights have moved in the injection covers (plastic). I never look at them !

Take care,

lolo

Would love to see your new setup lolobebel!

Lolo - you just saved my life! I never would have thought to mount the lights to the injection covers... it worked out GREAT! I would love to see more pictures of your bike if possible. The thumbnail photo looks really great...

I'd be very curious to hear more about your instal, and how you got the previous motogadget working without the plug&play harness. Did you have to add an additional speed sensor?

Thanks.

Can one of you guys post a picture of the lights mounted to the injection covers?

Hi Spumoni,

Yes, I used the speed sensor provided by Motogadget. I installed it on the front wheel, unfortunalty I don't have photos and I removed it along with the tiny speedo.
IMO, the drawbacks of Motogadget Tiny are : (1) extra wire that goes from speedo to front wheel (2) no more RPM information. Then I think Koso unit is a much better choice.
For both speedos, you have to wire a turning light unit (one flash unit + 2 relays). Doing so, I added a warning signal (easy set-up : one bi-polar switch and 2 diodes).

If you really want to go for motogadget, and if you don't want to cut the connector (that goes to the OEM dashboard), you have to purchase the superseal 26-pin connector (male), in order to connect to the main harness. I made a long harness, so that this connection is hidden under the tank.

I will post photos in a few days, right now my garage is not reachable (renting house for a movie)

Cheers !

Lolo

Lolo - Since I already purchased the moto gadget plug and play unit from Baak, I'm probably going to give it a try. I didn't have to worry about wiring any turning lights thankfully. The reserve light works by showing the left and right turn signal on steady, which seems pretty cool. I'm still not sure why I had to add that extra speed sensor. With all the plug and play, you would think it would pick up the same signal from original speed sensor.

Looking forward to those photos.

The headlamp is a nice retro touch. I forget when France dropped the requirement for headlamps to be yellow, but when I first started driving over there I had to either put a plastic cover over my lights or use a special paint on them, which I would have to clean off when I got back to England.
It's still a pain having to change the beam for driving on the wrong side of the road. When will you foreigners come into line?

I would cut that piece off the kick stand so it's not hanging way out. Don't really need it without the old exhaust in the way.

Never thought of it... just looked at the video again and you're right, it looks ridiculous. Thanks!

Hey lolobebel,

I love the look of the bike! I'm currently in the process of changing my speedo to a digital one, and I've run into the same problems with the indicators. You said you put 1 flasher unit and 2 relays in, how did you wire these into the harness? Any chance you'd be able to show me a rough diagram or explain it a little more thoroughly? I'm completely lost!

Thanks mate!

Would that exhaust piss of(f) the neighbors at 4:30am?

It depends...

Del Mar, Coronado, Mt. Soledad, Tierrasanta, Encinitas, La Costa, Alpine, La Jolla, Mission Beach - yeah...

La Mesa, Pacific Beach, Old Town, Mission Valley, Carlsbad, Leucadia - 50:50 chance...

El Cajon, Santee, Lakeside, Romona, Spring Valley, Chula Vista, Ocean Beach, Imperial Beach - not so much...

4.30am? Are you getting home or going out at that time?

In San Diego? Both.
