Ok... 1st highway trip under my belt on my '13 Racer. One word. BUGS!!!

Any advise on how to clean my bike? What needs to be covered when spraying it with water? What is a good bug remover?

Thanks!

There are some really good cleaners out there these days. If the bugs are really tough to get off, warm water and a sponge, or Bug-n-Tar at your auto parts store. Since Guzzi's aren't so waterproof, rinse only what's really needed, and use a spray detailer for everything else. My good freind makes the cleaning line for Victory and Indian, and they are really good. I pffer my own cleaners now made by him for me.

Thank you for the responses, guys! What a stellar day out there for CANADA DAY! I hope July 4th treats my American freinds just as well. :D

I've been caught in downpours on my bike, and eventually you will too...and as far as cleaning, I give it a good wash here and there, especially after long road trips and what not. I just take the nozzle off the hose and let the water cascade onto the bike, soap it down, then rinse, then wheel cleaner, then rinse, then dry. I got all my stuff from griots garage..works pretty good.

I think if they quit making S100 cycle cleaner I won't know how to wash my bike. Been using it since the 80's. Spray on. Wipe the smooth surfaces with a wet sponge or wash mit and hose it off. I do use a nozzle but lightly spray most places except the wheels and cylinder fins. I have a California with bags and you pretty much can't reach the rear wheel. They get a pretty good blast. Never any problems on my Cali or Norge. Not to mention many other bikes.

This is an old thread, but I'm new to the Forum having just picked up a 2015 V7. I've been riding Aprilias for years prior to this, and have always been a fan of the Motul line. I like the Moto Wash for wheels, suspension, under carriage, Wash and Spray wax and Shine and Go clear coat for painted and plastic surfaces, chain lube, and chain wax for chain (not on the Guzzi, of course!), and metal polish. I also like a home made glass cleaner I got the recipe from from the company that made the windscreen for my Aprila, California Scientific. Check their website for the recipe details, but it is basically a teaspoon of carwash soap, 1/4 cup ammonia, 2 cups isopropyl alhochol, and 2 cups filtered water. Better than any commercial glass/acrylic cleaner I have bought.

The Motul stuff smells just like it. Probably comes out of the same vat.

Didn't mean to undermine our generous host in my earlier post! New to the forum/site and had not found the cleaners yet. I'll definitely take a look!

I continue to be amazed at how well Todd's cleaning products work. My bike looks brand new when I am done.
