Hello,

I can't seem to find any definitive information online or in my manual about the correct oil specifications for the gearbox and final drive for my 2015 V7 Special (5 speed)

All the manual says is to take it to a dealership :finger:... To change the oil? Really?? I've read online to add a full liter to each but I don't quite trust that info because I've also read that the small block V7 takes exactly 2 liters of 10w-60 which isn't correct, (more like 1.6 liters).... Does Moto Guzzi not list any of these specifications?

I've bought the oil that that moto guzzi suggests listed below.

AGIP Oil 85W90 Transmission Oil

AGIP Gear Oil Gear Synth 75W-90

Does anyone have the correct oil specifications???

Thanks so much!!!

Thanks Jeff!

I believe the V7 II specifications are different though, at least the gearbox because it's a 6-speed... So if I'm reading your manual right, you put a 1/2 liter of gear oil in your final drive? (500cm3)

I'm new to this import stuff...

Thanks again!

No! For some dumb reason Guzzi doesn't explain this very well lol ! To much vino :)
The final drive holds 170ml the gear box is 500ml.

WAIT! the 5 speeds take one Liter or a quart, close enough.
the six speeds take 1/2 that or 500 ml, 16.9 oz to be accurate. both the 6 & 5 speed take the 75-90 (give or take) weight.

all of the bevel drives take 170 ml max! drain it and fill to the drain level with bike on 2 wheels and level. any extra and it's coming out, somewhere! use 75/140 here.

Is this still the case for the viii? 500ml for the transmission?

correct.
also I think the correct answer to the 6 speed is the new box without the side level plug is 500 CC and if there is a level plug like the 2015 6 speed it's 1 L.

I wonder why they didn’t go with a magnet. I think I will buy a small round one and let it sit inside of the drain plug. Should be fine as the screen will contain the magnet :D
