How Waterproof are Grisos Cluster?

I took the time to inspect around the instrument panel and noticed there was a screw loose. As I was tightening the screw, it seemed that the two plastic pieces just don't make a great seal.

Got me wondering if anyone had any problems with water getting in. If this ever became a problem, would MG's warranty cover this.

The seal isn't great and lots of folk have had problems with condensation in the instrument cluster. Guzzi have replaced them under warranty but the replacements can have the same problem so people fix them themselves. Either by VERY CAREFULLY taking them apart and re-sealing with silicone or by VERY CAREFULLY drilling vent holes. The cases are fragile and you must take care not to drill in the wrong place = ie into the electronics! There is a thread on here somewhere showing how to get them apart.

Two of us just finished a >3,000 km ride through Quebec and the Gaspe peninsula. He was on a 2012 G12 and I was on a 2007 G11. It poured for hours most days. Happy to say that neither bike had any water issues (although our gear did not hold up so well). Neither experienced condensation either (most days temps were about 17-19 C).
I did have a speedo sensor fail years ago on my G11, but since that was fixed, there have been no electrical issues. I do have a spare instrument cluster though, since the former dealer thought that was the problem with the speedo sensor failed and gave me a spare cluster. I still have it if anyone is interested.

Glad to hear that I won't have anything to worry about, I was thinking about creating a rubber seal for it.

Me too Asylum...I just asked the same question in your prior thread. Might sound silly but I'm wondering if simply running a strip of black electrical tape around the cluster seam suffice or does the cluster need to be taken apart entirely?

The electronics & the covering are really separate. The electrons are sealed well but they excuse the term they suck, well at least the first gen did. 2006-2009. Some blame it on condensation I blame it on very poor engineering &/or components used. Griso dash's have been know to fail while sitting on the showroom floor. If one goes, expect a $1200.00 bill for something that actually costs $120.00 if that to build.

If you wanted to feel even safer run a small fly screen so you dont have the cluster being pressure washed every time you ride in the rain.

I"ll have to consider a fly screen...any good "small"' one out there that you'd recommend archercc?

Yeah definitely doesn't keep you warm and dry but I did notice I felt less like I was being blown off the bike on the highway, especially in the chest area.

Otherwise it's very inconspicuous, you don't notice it looking at the bike.
