Twice now I have gone out to my bike (2016 V7II Stone) to go to work and couldn't get the ignition to unlock. The first time I tapped the forks back and forth, removed and reinserted key multiple times and eventually it worked fine. Then today it happened again and 10 minutes of fumbling , tapping and WD-40 didn't help, so I ended up driving to work so I wouldn't be late. Is this common? Any easy fixes or should I replace the lock?

Thanks for ideas,
Paul

The ignition lock is a simple slide bar into a part on the frame. If there is any pressure against the slide bar, you will not be able to easily turn the key. Try moving the bars slightly next time.

WD-40 is not a good idea for locks - it attracts dirt. Use graphite lock lubricant, or Teflon. Then use some compressed air to blow the lubricant into the nooks and crannies.
I had a similar problem with my Stelvio; this process fixed it.

Well I guess you can teach an old dog.
Thanks.

I tried the graphite a long time ago & never could get it to go in the way I wanted it to.
Never thought about a little air to move it about.

My Victory is a daily rider & lives outside uncovered so the saddlebag locks get WD'd a lot.
After 3 years they are getting a bit harder to un lock & now I know why.
Again, Thanks.
