When I bought the Strada, It had an apparently new digiplex box, and when I looked at the plugs, brand new spark plugs that hadn't fired a lick. So, now we know why it was sitting for years. :D After cleaning up and spraying de oxit in all the electrical connections, all the electrics seem to be working normally.
Crank it and no ignition.
I've verified power to the digiplex unit and power to the coils with my trusty light. The crankshaft position sensor reads 660 ohms IF I'm reading it correctly, what I don't know about using one would fill volumes. Is 660 the proper number? How does the crankshaft position sensor work? What other checks should I do? TIA.

I fought with a crapped-out digiplex on a 94 California for a year and a half. Sent it back and forth to an outfit who said they could fix it only to finally give up and exclaim " Unrepairable!" I stumbled upon (after lengthy search) an ignition made by Sachse in Germany and distributed by a Laverda restorer in Texas. It fits under the alternator cover and is stand-alone. Installs easily and is adjustable for timing which the digiplex is not. Love it. Runs better than the digiplex ever did. Here's the German outfit. http://www.elektronik-sachse.de/index_en.htm Here's the guy I dealt with. http://www.motolaverda.us/contents.htm

Hope you make out with your ignition search. I was really pleased with the service.

Thanks for that, but I I have it going. :D Cliff, of myecu fame also has a box to replace the digiplex. My problem was a dodgy relay that powers the digiplex on one circuit and the coils on another. And.. both high tension leads corroded at the plug end. The schematic that Guzzi provides wasn't correct (surprise surprise) and I worked with Carl Allison to get it updated..

BTW I use that Sachse unit on my V7 Sport racer and love it!

Replaced distributor, regulator, rectifier, allowed for programmable ign. curve, allowed custom timing, and provided charging.

Pricey though.
