Jackal 2000 Noisy Fuel pump

My Jackal's fuel pump has suddenly become noisy.
The whine when the ignition's turned on is louder and more pronounced and you can hear the fuel pump running above the engine and exhausts (17" open megaphones).
The Jackal's running OK, but I'm reluctant to go far in case the pump gives up completely.
The bike's done 21k miles; it's originally from the UK but now resides in Southern Spain.
Any similar experiences or advice to share?
Thanks.

Yes, dealing with one now. Did the bike sit for an extended period? The pump on the one I have is clogged with sludge from the tank. Remove the pump to have a look, and I'd recommend replacement. While you're in there, check all of the fuel lines, and replace the fuel filter. I also had to have the injectors professionally cleaned since one was mostly clogged.

Todd, what's the skinny on using injector cleaner in the fuel? Not advised due to plastic tanks or such? I have used it with good results in automotive applications, but am hesitant to use in in my bikes.

Injector cleaner might work on frequently ridden vehicles, but for clogged injectors it doesn't get the job done. Pull them and send to RC Engineering in Torrance, CA for real cleaning (and pretty cheap too).

Check your petcock is working properly. If it doesn't open, bike will run, but pump has to work harder -> gets noisier.
