Over the past 20+ years I have had a huge amount of customers customers with this issue.
The cap comes to pieces very easily, taking note that the rotating part needs to go back as it came off, once it is off I put the part it sits on in a lathe and I skim a few thou off it, then reassemble it with lithium grease.
Hey presto it never sticks again, as always it is the E10 petrol in the UK that causes the problem, I replaced loads of these under warranty back in the day as warranty manager for the UK market but the new ones constantly failed and this was the only solution.
I hope that this helps.

Ciao! How wonderful to have you here. 🙏👍

An extra special welcome to you Sir.

Before joining here, early in my MG phase I made my own keyless cap with a 2nd cap from the bay of e.
Disassembled the cap and turned a slug of steel for a tight fit in place of the lock. Later replaced with the Monza cap. Worked fine though.
If you don't have access to a lathe then this won't work for you.
