Hi guys, My local dealer estimate 12 hour labor for replacing rear main seal and clutch. Is that a good estimate ?
Thanks.

12 hours seems high but I haven't seen the flat rate times for the new bikes so that could be correct. Plus I haven't done that on a Stelvio yet. I do know that the swing arm bearing service takes about 3 hours which is part way to having the gearbox out. I know the flat rate time for an EV is 6 which I usually beat if there aren't surprises.

Engine needs to be pulled and then clutch disassembled. 12 hours seems a little high but I would say in the range. That is basically 2 guys for 6 hours, or one for day and a half. Sounds about right from experience.

:lipssealed:Its a hell of a job.... Dont ask me why....

Done it twice now, it takes a lot of time because you have to lift the frame en take the engine out.
I whised they designed a removable lowere frame tube, that wolud save a lot of time, its just the rearschock mount that gives you not enough space to remove the gearbox.

So 12 hours seems to me pretty fare.

What year and how many miles? I haven't heard much if anything about rear seal failures. What's the backstory? Was a slipping clutch the give away?

This problem occurs only ( as far as i know ) on the eyrly A5 engines.
Due to too long mountingbolts and blown gasket. Later on MG changed the main bearing part as well.

Later on MG changed the main bearing part as well.
Meaning they superceeded the main bearing plate support to a newer one? Part # or info? Just off of the newer engine?
