"Service" message appeared

So, I took the switch apart, because after a couple of weeks of 'pressing really hard' and getting it to work, it finally stopped altogether. The tabs on the button side of switch appear a bit disfigured, prob due to all the bench press pushes. I put it all back together and it pushes a bit more freely. Still doesn't work... Called the local dealer to see about a part.

Service word show up on the dash of my cali 1400. Diagnostic code showed code Po745 ... does anyone recognize this code? Or know where I should start to track this down? This code number does not show up in the service manual
Forgive my ignorance but how were you able to check the codes?

Has anyone ever dealt with a P0744 code?? Can’t find any solid info or guidance…

It's a new one for me. I found a P0745 code which appeared on my Cali 1400 as a clutch switch fault. This one is not listed either in the Cali 1400 error code list I have.

Do you have a friendly dealer that might be able to help?

The closest dealer is about an hour out. I’ll try to give them a call today and see if they’ll be willing to give me some kind of insight. Of course i had to throw a code with no reference haha

2014 California 1400 custom no modifications except for handbar risers.

Two weeks ago SERVICE message came on along with red triangle. Rode home but idle was about 1800 when I pulled the clutch in, but when I let it out dropped to normal. Fault code is P0745 - Invalid input signal
I looked at the clutch switch as mentioned here and sure enough the plunger would not push out. Ordered

Saia-Burgess Microswitch, Plunger, Spdt-Co, 5A - V4LS from Amazon for like $12 installed and in gear, clutch out would not start, clutch in would start. Also removed, clean and tested the kickstand switch, engine running, in gear, clutch in, put kickstand down, kills engine.

I also did the handle relearn, throttle relearn and ecu relearn, but as soon as I turn the key on - SERVICE message and red triangle appears.

Any other switches to check? I looked at the different switch settings and didn't see anything obvious.

I haven’t picked up my Eldorado yet however, on my Stelvio, 1200 Sport and Norge, every single one of them with on board menus, you can reset ECU faults via the Service menu.

I’m virtually certain the 1400’s are the exact same.

But feel free to argue…I tried. Ugh.

I'll try that but I've cleared the fault with the guzzidiag program but it comes right back on with the fault code of P0745 invalid input signal, does not indicate which sensor and I've replaced the clutch switch and checked the kickstand and brake switches.

First off, I am nobody here. Just a longtime member. I don’t own anything here, and I am not authorized to do diddly squat around here. I’m telling you these things to HELP you because you are standing inside a mine field and don’t even know it.

Second, like my online forum signature says, “Very direct and to the point individual. I do not candy coat stuff.”

That being said…

That program is an expressly forbidden topic anywhere on this forum.

See those rotating screens above the little dots at the top of the page? SCROLL LEFT TO RIGHT AND READ THEM PLEASE.

That idiotic software is not professionally maintained, does not have safeguards in place, and offers no commercial support or technical assistance at all, and yet it has the very real ability and likelihood that it will destroy your ECU irreparably. Nobody bothered to tell you this I’m sure!

Bricked ECU’s from this POS software, ARE NOT A MYTH.

This has happened here so many times with idiots that bricked their ECU’s and then came here literally BEGGING for any help to their now “several thousand dollars repair bill” I’ve lost count. They used to call me at my motorcycle workshop as well.

Every single one of the assholes out there who bamboo or persuade others into using that crap program, will disappear completely like a fart in the wind once you experience a catastrophic lockup. They will abandon you. Nobody will help you repair the damage because IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED!

PLEASE READ THESE POSTS BELOW AND LEARN!!!

If you love your motorcycle, you will never hook that trash to it again. If you don’t think so, then this is not the place for you.

(I believe that I gave you correct information on how to accomplish what you wanted to do. )

However, if you want commercially produced and supported electronic tools and fueling solutions that are Dyno proven and have decades of real world use literally worldwide, (my Stelvio has this setup) then those items are offered in the STORE section.

Welcome to GuzziTech but there are RULES OF CONDUCT. Please familiarize yourself with them by reading those rotating screens.

Thank you.

LINER NOTE:

I JUST RETIRED AS A MOTORCYCLE MECHANIC A MONTH AGO BUT I STILL OWN ALL OF MY OWN EQUIPMENT INCLUDING A PROFESSIONAL SOCIO-300 COMPUTER SYSTEM ($,$$$+++) FROM ITALY.

I WILL BE PICKING UP MY ELDORADO 1400 ON TUESDAY. I WILL CHECK MINE FOR YOU.

WORSE COMES TO WORSE, I’M HAPPY TO HELP YOU. YOU ONLY LIVE 95 MILES FROM ME. I AM IN FINDLAY, OHIO.

Enzo at Cadre Cycle is the best Moto Guzzi dealer within hundreds of miles. Enzo is a FIRST CLASS gentleman. I suggest calling them and taking it there.

I didn't get to meet Enzo last year when my bike was in for service (hanging throttle, bucking at slow speed), but the other guys where great to deal with concerning my issues. I just hope this doesn't become a yearly event having to take it to a dealer. I just purchased the bike two years ago, so I would have something to ride and not wrench on.

European motorcycles REQUIRE annual service at a minimum. You need to budget and expect this.

You do not do “maintenance by crisis” on European motorcycles as you will regret this decision.

Are you saying that MG need to be hookup and analyzed every year? I've done my own work and maintenance on my bikes for 40 years now. I just don't have the proper scanner to decipher codes on the MG. But when I did have Cadre work on the bike I had them change the fluids and check the valves although the bike only had 3500 miles on it.
