So you want a test ride? LOL

Not sure whether to laugh or cry at the above post:sweating:
I just heard back from International Motorsports and they have both a Stone and a Special available for test ride. Even asked me if I had a day in mind. I will look at my schedule and get back to them.

Paul, what do you think of them as a dealer, experiences??

Hard to say really as I haven't had to call upon their services other than to purchase a bike in 2016 (I do my own servicing) and that was fine. When I've gone in for basic things like fluids and filters etc they always seem to pull up the right stuff for me.

Note that the Vancouver outlet is the smaller of the two. The (much) bigger one is in Langley (even further from you). They seem to be roughly 60:40, Triumph:Guzzi dealers (plus some dirt machines) if the bikes on the shop floor are anything to go by. I happened to speak to the mechanic when I was in last asking about "diff" oil and he seemed polite, knowledgeable and happy to put down his wrench and converse. I kinda like the fact that you can see the guy working on your bike on the shop floor. There's a little section at the back of the shop. Seemed fine from what I could see, however it's also a very interesting place to wander round with its boutique styling - there's a music vibe about the place with guitars and pictures hanging around, not your old school spit and sawdust place. It's also in a trendy part of town too, near the Olympic Village that probably appeals to a younger crown.

mega dealer in Tucson, I ask rep a simple question about new jap bike. he has no clue. I say it was just written up in all the mags last month, he says he doesn't have time to read any mags!
same dealership a year later and a different rep. I'm trying to buy a used Triumph Tiger. they want $500 to check out their own used bike before it goes out the door. He can't tell me what they do but they have to charge it. I say I can take to the local Triumph dealer have him check / set the valves, check normal stuff and mount 2 new tires for that. didn't matter! next he says he just paid the Harley dealer over $600 do tune up his dresser and that included setting the valves but no new tires. I say "they set the valves?" yes he says. I then tried to tell him Harleys have hydraulic valves and he got screwed. He said I was wrong.
I sure miss the old days when the owner did it all!

You guys are making me love my dealer more and more. The whole shop has 9 people working there ... most of them have been there for 20 years. I walk in, they know me by name. When I ask a question, if they don't know the answer they say so, and we proceed to work together to find the right answer. When they do know the answer, I can trust that they have it right.

Good folks, good shop, excellent service... :D

Same kinda thing happened in the UK in the 90's (and elsewhere I suspect). Big motorcycle emporiums open up, staffed with half baked salesmen and rip-off prices. Put the little guys out of business and then they go belly up themselves when they get a bad rep. Took years for the little guys to pick up the slack again.

So a bit over a month ago I contact the local MG dealer (local being 3 hours away) and advise I want to buy a V7 III Special, I have ridden the V7 II and loved it.

He says they have a V7 III Stone demo available and the special will be in the following week.

So I make my hotel reservations, schedule a day off work and am waiting impatiently for the day to arrive. That day being March 3 (which also happens by pure coincidence to be my birthday).

I just emailed them to confirm and was told no demos available until some time in April, and the Special might be in in April as well.

Really, you sell motorcycles but will have no demo available for almost 2 months????

Is this normal in the motorcycle world these days, they are making so much money they do not need to be available to customers? The last bike I bought was a 1995 KLR650, and the dealer brought it is specially for me to test ride without my even asking.

HARUMPH. Not a good start to a customer / dealer relationship.

Well, let's not limit ourselves to motorcycle dealers. People in general are not to be trusted. When you do find one that is trustworthy you have found what could be a valuable friend.

If you are going to get into the world of Guzzi then you will have to get out of the mindset of how other manufacturers do it.

Otherwise you will be very disappointed.

Guzzi's are a fantastic machine & very addicting but can also be very frustrating to new owners.

This is SO true. I have been disappointed over and over again by MG when expecting them to perform as a reliable manufacturer.
