Hi All

Wanted to let you all know that I heard from the dealer that they are going to replace the engine. After over a week of checking out the likely problems it seems that a porous casting is the probable cause. Once the new engine has been installed I'll have to go through the running in process again and another engine service. Can't see me getting that done before next spring now, and to cap it all I've just been made redundant, but that means I'll have plenty of free time to go and collect the bike doesn't it!

Cheers, Paxo

Hi All

Still waiting! The shop told me yesterday they have now had a bill for the motor but they still don't know when it will turn up, and besides that they will need a week to sort out their work schedule before it can be fitted. So much for Moto Guzzi working on improving their image as a top end manufacturer. Wish I hated that bike then I could get my money back, but I don't so I wait.

Cheers, Paxo :pinch:

OK. Telephoned MG today as its 5 weeks the bike has been with the dealer's shop. Just had an email from MG customer service stating the engine will get to the dealer by the end of this week. Going to hold back the cheering until they phone to say its' arrived.

Good news! :D A large wooden crate has arrived at the dealer's with an engine in it. Now all that's needed is a space in their workshop schedule to actually fit it. I'm not complaining because they had no more idea when it would arrive than I did. Then all I need to do is get the registration docs amended, run it in and have it serviced again. I hope this is the last big problem I'm going to have.

Cheers, Paxo

Just had a chat with the mechanic at the dealer to make sure I will be running the engine in correctly when it's back on the road. Apparently I hadn't caused the problem, which was a relief, it was just a duff engine. Either incorrect tolerances in the crank bearing area or a porous casting would appear to the two most likely culprits. Sorry if this is getting boring, too much time on my hands after being made redundant.
