Having 2 technical issues for my V7 850
1. When I just start my bike in cool engine, the RPM starts fluctuating already before riding.
2. My bike come up some sounds from the engine like metal crashing when I was riding upslope.

Anyone knows why it would become like this?

Once you start the bike, begin riding. Best way to warm up the engine is to ride gently until it warms up. The sound you are getting may be detonation under load. Downshift to a lower gear. If you are lugging the engine that isn't good.

The metal crashing sounds only come up during 3000-5000 rpm in gear 3rd and 4th. I am worried if it is engine knocking.

Second this the small block definitely doesn't like to lug best to keep it over 3000rpm

Are you running the highest grade fuel available? Has the valve lash been set yet and the plugs checked?
I am running 98 octane fuel. I brought my bike to the dealer for checking. They were phoning it in and said no sounds. I am thinking if the sounds come up because of changing the exhaust.

Ok, now the real issue is revealed.

In order to pass vehicle emission standards all over the world, the motorcycles are built and setup with very very lean fueling to begin with. You cannot just change the exhaust on a fuel injected Moto Guzzi motorcycle without causing the motorcycle fueling to run catastrophically lean. I don’t care what any exhaust manufacturer says otherwise. They all lie.

You must modify the fueling to deliver significantly more fuel into the engine at the appropriate times, otherwise you will always experience lean condition detonation, especially climbing uphill.

I believe that GTM offers fueling modifications for your model. Check in the STORE tab above.

Otherwise, you will always have this issue no matter what.

This. UpMap is the way to go. I have Mistrals with db out and the bike is almost unridebale with the stock map. I run GCorse map now and it's night and day. Wouldn't mind trying GTM map but haven't seen it in the UpMap online store?

If I remember correctly, GTM tried and tried but the UpMap people didn’t want to pay GTM for their work product.

I do not remember all the details but I’m pretty sure it was something like that.

Google search this site and I’m sure it will pop up.

I think this was it (post 244) if I remember correctly.

I thought you can buy the map directly from GTM but it is always best to send an inquiry to info@guzzitech.com and get it from the source.

I am thinking to get UpMap ECU Flash Tool. Which map should be fit my bike?
My bike is running 98 RON, Agostini exhaust with short Mufflers (half db killer), all original except the exhaust.
The city I live in is over 30 degree celsius in summer time, humidity always over 70%.
