Page 43 of the v9 service station manual 2Q000193 tells me to check the oil level in the engine with the oil filler plug/dipstick inserted but not screwed in.
Page 102 of the owners manual tells me to check the engine oil level with the oil filler plug/dipstick screwed all the way in. What do i believe - the owners manual or the service station manual?

Torque settings shown in the service station manual vary wildly for the same nut/bolt/load cap/drain plug in the same location, Some of the values given ( I'm assuming misprints ) would i think cause engine damage - i don't have any confidence in the publication and will use established values for cylinder head/drain plugs etc.

Hi John, first welcome to the Forum and GT Famiglia. Hope you'll add your info to the Registry page HERE.
Yes, do NOT trust any torque values listed... or at least use the common sense approach.

Guzzi has spec'ed an overfill condition since 2013 on the V7s, and the V9 is the same. I would run it no higher than 1/2 way up the hatched area, or at the low fill line if not threaded in, with the bike vertical. Running more than that will simply dump it into the airbox, or it has so far on all other V7 models. The V9 head breathers have been revised, so maybe have a look into your airbox for us and let us know if it's dry and clean or not.

Thanks GT for your response - pleased i didn't pay for a paper copy of the service manual.

i don't have the bike yet - I've got a 2017 Roamer on order (the one with re-positioned pegs and proper dual seat) its due in a few weeks so just reading up on it - thanks for the advice and yes i will register when the bike arrives.

John
