A fact to start: No stock Guzzi ECU/F.I. system is fully adaptive, nor can 99% of the dealers do anything to help as they are mostly factory map/warranty restricted. If you modified your bike, it will NOT adapt. Even completely stock, fuel mapping is set up for emissions, not the health and longevity of your motor. They will run poorly and hot. This is just a simple fact of an air-cooled engine running in modern times. Remember "air-cooled" is really reliant on fueling to properly cool it; Your motor is fuel-cooled in large. In our decades of fueling experience, proper air/fuel revisions can significantly reduce operating temps, smooth engine vibration, allow the throttle response to be stellar, and more often then not, increase low and mid-range power.

For 2013-2020 V7 & V9s (E4 and older models): Our flash tool/map ECU update device is the ONLY option available for this service: They CANNOT run a Power Commander due to their internal Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). For E5 models, for now, see our UpMap device
HERE.

SERVICE RESETS for E4/5 models: The Service wrench icon is a function of the speedo. Reset does get communicated via the same Diag plug, it has nothing to do with the ECU. Yes, the wrench can be reset and not disturb the ECU data. Just be SURE THE ECU MAP NEVER GETS UPDATED.

To start, your bike is expected to be in top/recent Service/Tune. Our maps are built based on spec engine settings, including Euro valve lash check/set. This is PARAMOUNT to good running. Our maps are also built around (if you haven't yet already done) the evap can & tip valve delete (and SAS Kit
HERE if you have a V7 III, V7-850, V9, V85TT).
The stock system is developed to handle elevation and temp changes using the stock sensors once a good base map is established.

Warranty: ANY modifications to your bike will technically void the warranty. It is up to your dealer... Call them and ask using logic and the facts above.

We will not discuss any other means of ECU flashing here, do not ask or post on it. We have been Guzzi-focused with this since 2001. You get what you pay for... Click on the STORE tab above or see links below.

That said; For ALL V7 (Mk I, II & III) & V9 owners; Our new touch-screen Flash Tool (FT) programmer for ECU "map" updating. NOTE: Windows ONLY program supplied, and it will flash ONLY *one* Bike/ECU. The Flash Tool does NOT come pre-loaded with maps, you MUST read your ECU and send us the file first. It will capture and store your bike's stock map once you plug in for the first time, then you email your file to us for revision, typically in 24 hours or less. It will also allow you to return/flash it back to the stock map (it will read and keep your stock map once you connect, and must be set back to stock before a dealer visit) or any future map revisions for whatever reason. This is the only option for fueling corrections, as the MIU ECU used on the V7/V9 cannot accept a PC-V/AutoTune. For those asking, it is not public roadway legal. See post below for ECU/Diag plugs. Purchase info HERE.
It's also a Diagnostic Tool: It handles mandatory TPS reset post re-flash AND the subsequent TPS resets we suggest you do at least seasonally: It does NOT yet allow Service resets on 2017+ V7/9s.

My 2013 V7 Special came with Agostini exhaust from the original owner. Fueling was not changed. i put the stock exhaust back on today and the bike seems to run better, a little smoother and more responsive. Does that make sense. Thanks
Sure does. Stock fueling is set up for the stock mufflers, replacing the mufflers with most anything aftermarket (with increased flow and no cat-cons) will cause mostly lean fueling (though rich in some areas). Even stock, corrective fuel mapping can make the bike far more enjoyable and run much cooler.

For ‘13+ models, The 3-pin/2-wire diagnostic port plug on the single throttle body/ECU models is hooked into the back of the air box lid, under the seat. It should have a protective cap on it.

For '09-12 models with two individual throttle body models with 15RC ECUs (4" square, single plug ECU under the right side cover), I recommend the Full Kit with PC-V/AutoTune HERE.
The 3-pin/2-wire diagnostic plug is typically around the main ECU plug or will be found hiding behind or near, or under the seat as shown below. It should have a protective cap on it.

Cool. I used to have to do that with a Saab I had. It really did work quite well. I bought the unit, then followed instructions and sent them my VIN number. They would then set me up with a map that I downloaded off the web.

That is great! Not having to pull the ECU and wait on shipping is a big plus!

Hi Todd

I'm certainly interested in this, as it looks more feasible for us overseas customers who can't really send bits of their bike over to you. I look forward to hearing more.

Merry Christmas.

As Seasider said, this is a great idea for overseas customers. Can maps from any source be loaded on it?

If I'm reading correctly, sounds perfect. I can get your standard, but much improved over stock Map. And then a second Map for open exhaust and intake, or what ever combination I need. Correct? Up charge for 2 Maps?

take my money!
Having a means of interacting with the ECU like this makes me feel more empowered as the bike owner, to be able to get the bike running it's best. That's the only thing I miss about carbs; being able to influence the fuel tuning personally...

That is correct. I do not charge for additional maps or revisions for one year after purchase.

Fantastic! So with this little gadget I won't need to send you my ECU to reflash? Absolutely perfect for us overseas clients. Well done Todd, I'll be letting my local Guzzi specialist know about this one for sure...
In the future when I do the 820 kit and a stainless exhaust will this doodad tune the ECU for that as well?
That is correct. No need to send me your ECU, and thanks/appreciated.

So, this programmer only works for >2013 V7s? Is the solution for the <2013 ones to send it in for reflash?

Todd, can you clarify a couple of points:

If people place an order, do they send you an e-mail/ PM to choose what map to have pre-loaded onto the unit prior to delivery? i.e your standard GT map and another one that you might advise and have available for different set ups such as 820 conversion kit?

Does it have to be connected to the bike in order to be able to first save the bike's standard mapping and save it for later re-set, or is the standard map pre-loaded onto the unit already?

What is the process for actually connecting it to the ECU?

It works like this... Purchase the box online. When you get the box, you will plug it in to your PC via USB cable. Let it update the tool. From there, plug it into your bike via the diagnostic plug under the seat, and it will read/capture/store the stock map onto the device. Once the tool has read the ECU. You will connect it back to your PC, and send me the *.usr file to manipulate, and I will send it back revised to upload and flash to the bike.

The big upside to this box, is that at any time, I can email you a revised map to upload via supplied USB cable, and you can flash away. Make sense?
Other questions?

This is brilliant. Sorry I missed the original posting. I'm now thinking on a V7 ii over my old V7 i and looking forward to this upgrade.

This is by far one of the coolest things I've seen to date. Just waiting for the Canadian dollar to rebound so I can start with my list of modifications.

Would this be the best option for my bike? I've got a new V7ii Racer. Everything standard / stock on it so far, but I may fit an uprated hi-flow air filter and maybe change the silencer end-cans in future. I live in UK.
Thanks. Jenko.
I did this on my V7 II Special. If you only do one mod, this should be it. It will completely transform the bike. You won't have to let it warm up more than a few seconds, you can putt around in first gear without surging, and fuel delivery is smooth all the way to fuel cut-off (which I now have to be careful with).

Have had a heck of a time with Guzzi on this bike, ran dissimilar temps R to L 30 to 60 degrees. Ran new reflash by Guzzi as below post,,,didn't do a thing.....got the reflash done from GuzziTech and what a difference... Runs same temp both side now, still got over 50 mpg running the loving hell out of it, and seems to want to run at 5000 in 6th, which will help it keep up with my Norge, about 85 mph..fat part of the torque/HP curve I assume...the 750 always had to be pushed to run with the Norge and now I think they will run together well.. Quite happy with the reflash

I too have just recently used the reflash tool on my stock V7 II. It definitely gives better fuel delivery across the rev range, from toodling through the parking lots at 10mph, to railing it down the highway. Much simpler than disassembling the bike to get the throttle body/ECU out to send it in, just hook up and do some button pushing, and you're on your way!

I will be ordering one of these. Is there any reason I should get the latest mapping from the dealer prior to reprogramming with the ECU programming box? I believe I heard the dealers got one in 2015.
