V7 Registry & Picture thread -- ADD YOUR BIKE

Congrats and welcome to the GT Forum and Guzzi Famiglia... appreciate the post. Sure you're going to love the bike. Guzzi's best and most refined V7 to date. Next up is let some of the glorious sound out and feed it some fuel... products all found on the Store tab above. It, and you, will be MUCH happier. Post often. p.s. Date of purchase?
Thanks, Todd! The store here is like candyland - too easy to be a glutton. I’m looking forward to putting your crashbars on and hope to slowly work my way through upgrades. Purchase date was 11/21/17.

I am italian and I moved in Los Angeles 3 years ago.
I own a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 since one week!
Ciao and welcome to the GT Famiglia!
Look forward to having you on our next small block ride.
Post often.

My bet is the tank is the stock Satin Silver ... and the finish got messed up at some point at the dealership ... and they decided to polish it to the silver finish. I'm not sure why the dealership wouldn't just fess up to this ... they kept insisting they opened the crate (from MG) and there it was with a shiny tank. And no MG emblems/badges on the tank.

I have not pulled off the tank to look underneath ... but from pulling off the seat and looking at it, it is polished all the way down as far as you can see.

Così è la vita!

I think whoever suggested on the other thread that your bike somehow got parts from the "Dapper kit" got it right... But again, whatever the explanation, it's a cool set up!

David,

I pulled the tank belt off yesterday and was appalled to see how much the rough-ish leather has marked/scratched the tank's finish already. The leather belt is unfinished underneath. I think Todd mentioned a product he uses to protect the tank ... At the very least, I'd buy some cheap microfiber cloth, cut it to fit the leather, and cement it in place to the back of the belt to prevent scratching that nice shiny tank. Guzzi should have finished the back of the belt better than they did... sigh.

(I actually kinda like the way Racer looks without it, so I'm going to try to use rubbing compound to get the paint damage out. If that doesn't work, I'll see if I can get the tank replaced or repainted under warranty.)

I've posted a pic of my bike on this thread before, but I just made two new photos the other day that I like a lot. See minor cosmetic mods ... V7III Racer and minor cosmetic mods ... V7III Racer for the latest.

Luckily I looked at that around mile 15. So I pulled it off and it is in my Moto Guzzi box in the garage along with the rear seat number plate. :)

I really like the look of the leather strap on the tank but it doesn't really fit tight ... looks like it would bounce and move around ... get dust/bugs/grit between the belt and tank ... so no strap for me. :(

Good, I'm glad. It really made a mess on the top of my tank.

Racers damaged tank paint1

It might buff out with some polishing compound and wax.

The strap could be re-engineered to work better and not damage the tank. It needs a little mechanism at the back to allow you to cinch it down properly, and a lining on the bottom so that it will not scratch the tank. Both are doable things, if you're inclined that way.

I have slightly different plans... :)

Bloody 'ell!

Bloody 'ell!

Yes, it really did an ugly number on the tank... :(

The good news: I stopped by the dealer today and showed them the photo. They took a copy of it and opened a warranty ticket. I mentioned that I would not be averse to doing a custom paint job in lieu of getting a new stock tank. "Oh, that sounds fun. Let's see what we can do on that for you..." So it looks like the funky damage will be taken care of and maybe my 'other druthers' on cosmetic modifications will be completed at a lower cost. :D

Beauty Barry. Can you post the VIN# and the rest of the info for the first post of this thread?
Welcome to the GT Famiglia... and post often.
