41C in Bulgaria today the heat is killing me. Just got home left leg is sore, bright red and swollen. Went out at 6.00 this morning lovely but as it approached midday just to hot and to much heat from exhaust and the cat.

I live in Arizona, USA. Daily high temps here have been over 105 F. (40 C.) for the last 6 weeks. I know how you feel.

Stating the obvious: if you're riding in shorts and open sandals, stop it.

I suggest heavy denim work jeans and mid-calf leather boots with knee-high socks.

Their thickness will slow down the rate of heat transfer from engine and exhaust to your flesh. Same physics as why you grab a hot pad before taking a roast out of the oven.

In general, the more you wear the less heat you will feel. There is such a thing as "wind heating" whenever ambient air temperature is over 100 degrees F. The faster you go, the hotter you feel.

Stop often and drink lots of water.

Yeah my 2007 Norge was terribly hot at 32oC in France a couple of weeks back. Can only begin to think how awful 40+ degrees would be!

I’m going to look at de-catting possibilities as well as maybe looking at a heat deflector like the later Norge fairing uses.

I think 40 C is to hot for them, I have now got some oil leaks to look at aswell now ,main one is sump gaskets. Untill the temperature went up had no leaks now sump gaskets and a leak at top of engine somewhere.

Oh goodness, I hope that’s not the oil pressure sensor.
the main leak is just behind the side stand. I was worried that it might be main crank oil seal as oil is around that area, but I put a bit of clean cloth on a thin screw driver and pushed it up the open slot at bottom of gear box/clutch housing and it was clean beside a bit of clutch dust,no oil. The oil seems to be a long sump gasket area so will replace both top and bottom sump gaskets.
The other oil leak is at the top at the front of engine, not much but it is there, need to get tank off to see better.

That’s the upper sump. Had identical leak on my Norge. Rather satisfying to resolve in the end :)

That sounds an awful lot like the oil pressure sensor. Tank off, airbox off, bit of a sod to get to under the alternator. I got my replacement from Gutsibits. Don’t over-tighten as it’ll chew up the washer.

thanks

looks like common problems
It is - search this site and you’ll find many a mention and loads of good information on fixing it. On my Norge you can see the oil pressure switch from just in front of the left-hand pot. It requires a torch & a bit of a squint but you can see it. If oily, there’s your problem.

Well then.
I'm going to be working in that area and a little pre-emptive action seems to be called for.
I did experience a heat related leak from the left side. It turned out to be an oring in the cam sensor. Replaced it with one made of viton.

WELL, it was 41C! Of course you felt hot, because is was HOT. Try any other motorcycle and you will find that 41C is hot when riding them too.
