Hi All, I'm Kez. I've just joined the forum. I'm in need of a little help. I recently purchased a Guzzi Norge 1200 GT 8v 2011 with 24k on the clock. After a few days of ownership the abs light came on. I took the bike to a local motorcycle shop and they diagnosed the fault to water in the abs unit. I went to the workshop to have a look. we opened up the cover of the circuit board and it looks like its been sitting in a pond for the last few years. The whole circuit board is damaged. The bike shop ran the circuit board through an ultrasonic cleaner but in the end we decided it just was not fixable. I had a look online/checked part numbers etc and found that the unit is the same as many Aprilia's, same part number too. I ordered a used ABS pump from the states, Received the pump and took it to the motorcycle shop for them to fit it. They fitted the pump and explained that the pump is coded to an Aprilia Caponord (diagnostic shows the old chassis number coded to the ABS pump) and therefor had a ABS fault light, this stops the speedo from working.

I have now found a ABS pump from a Norge 1200 GT 8v, but I'm unsure if I will receive the same error that the pump is coded for a different motorcycle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Is the shop a dealer? If not a dealer may be able to re-program the unit. A dealer can at least contact Guzzi tech support for assistance.

Hi John, Thanks for your reply. I spoke to a dealer and because the unit I'm fitting is used they did not want to help, Only to fit a new ABS pump at a cost of over £1000

maybe easier and cheaper to buy a set of new stainless brake hoses and go master cylinder to brake callipers and by pass the abs all together. My bike is abs and I am not a great fan of it.
