V7 two Swingarm greasing

Hi everyone,

Is that possible to grease Swingarm bearing on a v7 two-2015. I Mean there is no point pulling them all apart if the bearing is sealed. Right? Any help is great folks. Thanks
 
I have a needle that plugs on to a grease gun. It will put grease through the seal on the side, seal it up w/silicone goo. The u-joint and driveshaft inspection would be one reason to pull off swingarm once in a while.
The grease stays forever, look how much it turns, very little.
 
I don't see the point in damaging the seal of a bearing. Especially the swing arm as the bearing rotates so little. They are greased at the factory and no grease needs to be added. Also there is no way to predict bearing failures, so why damage the seal and possibly cause a point of water ingress. Now that said, it is still a good idea to take it apart and lube the splines. I prefer a good type 2 synthetic grease for this as it really sticks and stays in place.

I see what you mean. I will still pull it apart and see how I go. Manual says AGIP NLGI 2 grease conventional. I can’t find AGIP Grease in New Zealand. I got all the AGIP oil but not grease. So I am going with Valvoline NLGI 2 conventional. I like to use synthetic as I was told it’s better than Mineral grease. What you all recommend?
 
Chaminda, I use the type 2 grease as well. Either Mobil1 or Lucas is what I use as it is readily available in my area. Both are synthetic.
 
I did the greasing last week. this is the out come.

A- spline was stuck to the drive shaft and had to tap to pull the spline off. spline was rusted. Old grease has gone dry and it was like clay. Rusty moisture was in spline. But the good thing was that there was no damage to the spline.

Tranny end of the drive shaft was dry as. All I saw was old dry clay looking grease and moisture. And I saw U joint is dented. ☹️ Should I be concerned???

you can see on the photo a small part of a tooth is missing.

Swingarm pivots and bearing were fine. Was still greasy. I am glad I did this. I think water got in through the cover by tranny.
I rode the bike through out a one winter. 10000 ks. bummer this is not part of the service that MG should have included.

I've found (at least with my LeMans2) that it doesn't take too much oil in that housing to start
trickling out . Actually truth be told , I found out long ago that a very slight output shaft seal
leak lubricated the splines perfectly . Not a first choice of course , but the oil leaked right into the
splines . It was way easier to simply top the tranny up every 5000km than to go in and attend to the seal.
Hey , call me lazy , but the splines are still fine after 250,000 km of ownership . Peter

If you simply undid the clamps on the Swing arm CV boot you could inject some grease - without doing any harm ?
( I am guessing / asking )
I tried to find a space but there wasn’t. I didn’t wanna break it to inject grease from a needle because i thought it will be a way for moisture to get in. Someone suggested sealing it back with sealant. But I wasn’t sure how long sealant will last. I also learnt that the bearings are not expensive to change.
