I have that as one of my over-winter projects for my two V7's, but have, especially now, some misgivings of the "leave well enough alone"" sort.

Now, know that I do not doubt for a moment what you say about the reason to center the beads from both sides before inflating, but it would seem -- to someone, ich, who's never done this except in his head -- that the significant pressure at play during inflation would push to the outside wherever the beads were. It thus seems unlikely (again to me who has never done it) that the bead on one side would be so far to the other other to implicate the tape on inflation.
Don't roll your eyes and launch into a detailed explanation as this may be quite clear to other readers.
