Ill just throw it in and see what comes out.
In July on holiday in the Pyrenees the clutch lever started to lose travel and over 2 days got to the point where it would only just disengage the clutch. Dealer recommended that i dont even start it, he'd seen a clutch plate disintegrate recently and thought it was the same symptoms. Van the bike to Bilbao and lose out on holiday. So stripped down and looked at the parts, no immediately apparent problem but re-assembling on the ground, same symptoms,no handlebar travel, i mean locked hard after short pull. Measured everything and found that i needed 2mm more travel at the actuator to fully disengage the clutch with full handlebar travel. Made a temporary actuator rod, reassembled on the ground, clutch worked perfectly. (Albeit stationary engine). Looking at parts catalogues suggest updated parts in the clutch actuator assembly. It would be great in understanding whats actually worn out (Bike has done a whole 18000 miles after all ) if i could get dimensions of the parts or what do those upgraded parts actually do? Also are dimensions available for the clutch rod measuring tool so i can calculate the correct rod length as the manual shows. Just buying new parts and fitting them without understanding the problem doesnt satisfy my mind well. Anyway if anyone has any ideas or can help it would be appreciated. Cheers

Not sure if the same issue, lever bottoming out on the grip, not disengaging..... but also in Europe this summer and clutch occassionally went spongy. Carried on, worked OK, I thought it was a heat issue, it was very hot, in slow traffic, symptoms seemed to easy later at speed. Happened again in the UK during warm spell and town centre traffic, lots of clutch, low speed. Replaced the fluid, it was black. Seems OK now but weather is cooler.

Next time you replace it, put 5.1 on in it. I use 5.1 by Motul. Has a higher boiling point and will cure that problem. For some reason the NTX likes to destroy clutch fluid. I change mine once a year and it is always dark.
