What area are you in? i used to live near katy. We could definitely set up a meetup to go ride. I'll check my dual-sport maps and see where this can be done.
 
I'm in The Woodlands, right off 45 North of Houston. To get to my brother's in Round Rock, I usually take back roads through College Station and Hutto to come in on 79 (on the bike). In the car, I take 290 then 35 North.

If you can find something east of Austin, that would be great. If not, I could meet you late morning, ride all day, then stay at my brother's overnight. I'm pretty free over the holidays, let me know what works for you.
