My father-in-law lost the oil filler/dipstick on his V7C when he was out riding yesterday. He is going to machine up an alloy replacement, with a lock wire hole, rather than pay Guzzi prices for a replacement plastic one.
Can someone on the group please give me the distances from the dipstick sealing face to the high and low level marks.
Much appreciated.

Yep, they have a tendency to auto-rotate out. I put a wire wrap on the factory stick.
Another fellow drilled a hole into the engine case and uses a pin to lock it in.

Also, what year is your father in law's bike?

Some years ago Guzzi changed the dip stick markings to reflect a new "improved" oil level. I think this was 8-12 years ago.
I've got the tech notice about it somewhere, if you're compelled to see it.

We've seen a few of these things rotate and fall off these bikes. I'm going to rig the thing like the one pictured with the wire idea. What amaze me is that it would have to jump up and out with the stick as long as it is it's amazing it can come on out of that hole like that. Gheeeeeez.
Thanks for that picture.
