Just back from a fantastic 8 day trip around Tasmania. (a riding treat for those not from Aus). The bike went really well but unfortunately I have blown the seal in one of the pistons in the rear brake calliper. (slowed me down a tad!)

Just wanted to check that the rear brake calliper is the same on all the CARC bikes and that I can buy a second hand 1200 rear calliper and fit it to my B11. They look the same to me and all those available second hand seem to be from 1200 sports.

All advice welcome

pretty sure they are all the same - check the parts lists - the only difference might be the colour code used on the different CARCs.

Why not replace the seals? I've just done the front callipers on my Breva and it's fairly straight forward.

I believe that the rear calliper is a PF30/32 as used on KTMs and BMWs and they have their own part no for the seal kit.

BMW p/n 34 11 7 651 956
KTM p/n 600.13.019.000 BRA51956
Motorworks p/n BRA51956

Though you should check the pistons in your calliper are 30mm and 32mm.

I don't know if it's urban myth but the story goes that the old type of Brembo seals had to go in a specific way round to make the seal. Someone put them in the wrong way round, didn't stop and crashed, ended up suing Brembo. Brembo then wouldn't sell seals, only new callipers. They've redesigned the seals to fit either way round so they're idiot proof now.

I have survived the test run of my new seals in the front brakes.

Thanks I will more into replacing the seals I did check at the Guzzi dealer hear about seals and was told there were none available but I will look further into it.
