does anyone out there have any info on a hugger for the griso.... i can't find one on the web and dont want to go thru the same crap with chips etc on the shock as i had on the 1100.... and is anyone else experiencing the condensation problem in the (sealed) speedo/ tacho or is this a New Zealand only problem?
 
Tried to post a link to the ebay page, but didn't take. Search ebay "moto guzzi hugger" and up it comes. I'm in California by the way, so go to the US ebay page. $150 US plus $20 shipping worldwide..

Had rubbing issues with the Rennsports, but no such problem with Pirelli Diablos.
 
I fitted a Skidmarx hugger & it fitted perfectly first time, no problem with rubbing on the Rennsports or with alignment. But I've met another owner who said he'd had problems fitting his and it had taken several attempts (and rather too long) to get it to sit straight & clear of the tyre.

To say the least the brackets aren't exactly hi-tech engineering so I think a little more care in fitting is needed than you might first expect. I ditched the washers, bolts etc that came with it and used better quality stainless steel ones....and since then I've replaced the bracket on the CARC with a polished s/steel one.
 
Not beening too mechanically minded (can do basics only), was it an easy install.

Looking at the pics (which look great and will have to get one), i can't make out the POC.
 
I am still so turned off by those brackets. For me they are a total deal breaker. I am amazed how ugly and low tech looking they are. I'd never pay those $$ for the hugger set up like that. Awful. :S
 
I just took mine off the Breva last weekend - had trouble keeping it from rubbing on both the OEM Metzler Z3's and Metzler Sportec M3's - lots of hole grinding and mucking around made it a bit better, but the front mount puts it too close to the tyre, and can't be adjusted without surgery. It had also cracked around the front mount (fiberglass version).
 
I found it a doddle to fit but as has been said others have found problems. I used larger washers to spread the load & I've had no problems with cracking. Maybe I'm lucky 'coz I shelled out the extra for carbon fibre? However there is no doubt about it....the brackets are shit quality. I'd recommend ditching as much of the original hardware as possible & using better quality fixings and make some better brackets if you can. I guess strategic use of a rubber washer or two might help avoid cracking & help keep the hugger off the tyre.

I can't see why they make do with crapily welded up fabricated ones with capitive nuts tacked on, especially at the price they charge! After a few months I made a much better bracket for the CARC side out of single bit of s/steel sheet without any fancy workshop equipment (just a hacksaw, files, vice, block of wood and a hammer). I haven't bothered to upgrade the other bracket to hold the front to the suspension mount but that would be a piece of piss in comparison as it's a simple 2 dimensional 'L' shape.

I have the hugger on both my Griso and my Norge.. In both cases it went on with no modifications required to either the bike or the hugger. I have not had any problem with rubbing on the tires either.

Mine arrived today. As noted the mounts are fughly. I decided to spray them black before I mount it. I primed tonight, PJ1 black case paint tomorrow night, and Friday night mount er up...

Here are some close ups. I am pretty happy with the brackets now that they are blacked out. It took a little fettling to get the fit right without rubbing, but I think its good now - I have not ridden it yet. I think it looks hot, with the GT-RX and the tidy tail...
