What to do once low oil pressure is diagnosed.

I've got a 2012 Griso and had the low oil pressure light came on at idle Rpm the other day, luckily at the end of a long ride 100 yards from home, I did a little home work. I hooked an oil pressure tester and checked the oil pressure. Initially all was great but once up to temp, 70-80 degrees C, oil pressure had dropped to 10-9 Psi at idle.

My question is where do I start looking? To begin I'm guessing the oil pump, but in other postings and forums I have read about faulty pressure regulators, bad gaskets allowing pressure loss, or should I just bring it to the dealer? I would rather not bring it to the dealer since it's about 10 months out of warranty, but I don't want to spend all of my time trying to diagnose the fault and end up with no answer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you are lucky, it is just the pressure regulator. I do recommend you have your dealer look into the issue. The regulator and the pump are not the easiest things to diagnose or replace. Pressure will drop some once up to temp, but you should have closer to 20 psi at idle when up to temperature.

That's pretty much what I suspected. Thank you for the advice.

10 psi is dangerously low, could be your oil pump or over-pressure valve amongst others. I would certainly check my big-end bearings for wear during repair.
