2008 Breva 750 Downshift Sqeal Question

I posted this in the small block section but I'm not sure there's much activity there...

I just picked up a 2008 Breva 750 with 5k on the odo. Very nice and smooth engine.

I notice that when I downshift, there's a slight squeal, like a belt squeal. I thought, ok, like BMW boxers, maybe the crank drives a pulley and belt to the alternator/generator so when I downshift, the belt may be loose and is squealing. That's before I looked and saw the generator is mounted to the crank. But is sounds like a belt slip. Could it be the clutch? The clutch feels fine.

Now I'm perplexed; does anyone know what this is? I figure it's probably something characteristic of the bike and someone will know.

Thanks!

Mike

Mike, possibly the clutch plates themselves. clutch may have not been used for quite a while with such low kilometres on it. Other, wiser, personnel may care to comment, I don't have a small block

Tony,
Thanks for the reply. I've been reading about the squeal and while it seems to be common, it doesn't seem to be an issue. Hopefully you're right about the low mileage. We'll just keep an eye on it. Thanks!

Mike
