I Think the Stelvio is stronger then H&B

Yes they all do that! I believe the importer Motobins are awaiting updated parts for affected Stelvio owners.

Yea I'm still waiting for my replacements, from a couple of months ago. I rang them a while back and they said about 3 weeks. Must have been 4-5 weeks ago. I think I'll ring tomoz, bars or money......................

Today I returned them to my dealer.
I'm curious about the reaction of H&B.

Are the original MG crash bars better?

I don't have any miles on them, but the factory bars went on with no pushing or prodding, a perfect fit. They should do the job in a tip over and they were available, so I went factory.

This has answered a question for me......... it will be the Factory bars for me also.....plus the ally sump protector, that is a beefy piece of kit, should do the job well, the standard plastic cover is not really up to much. I also read in a thread on here (cannot remember where sorry) that a guy reported his first fall off and the factory bars saved the engine from any damage, so that is good to hear.
:eek:hmy:
Cheers Nige

My dealer told me H&B has reinforced the new crash bars.

I will get some this week

Had a look at a KTM forum and the people over there were complaining that the H&B crash bars for the 990 Adventure were cracking/breaking just like that, too.
Seems to be a "feature" with this brand? :p

Yes with a gusset welded in as the originals should have been. A reputable company cutting corners for a small saving at what expense to there past fine reputation. At least they stood up for their product , improved it and replaced the weak ones.

I finally got to ring Moto Bins in Lincs today.
The lady there doesnt know anything about new bars, she's still waiting for an answer from Germany.
So bo---ox to them I got a refund and went to my nice dealer and ordered the MG ones.

Hey there, I just purchased a pair that they needed to special order for me on those Hepco Baker Crash Bars. I didn't think to come on the forum b4 buying the to see if anyone had any info on them and here i stumble into your problem with them. You say they have fixed the problem in total or they just fixed your problem. Also Do they protect the Exhaust in case the bike tips over? Or do they just protect the Valve's? Thanks for the info.....

P.S. Do you have any pics you could send me. I would like to see how they look on the Stelvio....I Just Picked one up the other day and should be getting it on Tuesday....Can't wait...... I will Let all you know what my experience with the bike.

Hi Gigio,

while my Stelvio was carried to my dealer, the tension belt broke and the bike tipped over :-(

the cavering of the tank was damaged and the crash bar now has a scratch

the exhaust is OK, no scratch

Those are just terrible welds, they are cold, no pernatration, thats why they let loose. A good weld is stronger than the steel that it is welded to.

That sucks, sorry to hear that.....That would have pissed me off.....I just picked up my Stelvio on Wednedsay and I absolutely love it.....From the Sexy lines, to the art of the V Twin, to the rumbble of that awesome exhaust, what a cool bike.....I was riding home last night and I noticed people looking at the Bike not know what the heck it was.....I love that, I bike you don't see with great frequency........Do you have any pics of your Stelvio with the Hepco Crash Bars????? If so would you mind posting one??? I look forward to many nice rides....Enjoy.....

Hi Gigio,
Have fun with your Stelvio, here some pictures of the H&B crashbar

Bad News:

My Hepco Crash bars are broken again, nearly the same area.

The first one broke after 8.000 km
The second, better ones, after 16.000 km (double distance)

I returned them to Hepco,
waiting for answer

I took delivery this week of new hepco and becker engine bars, I haven't fitted them yet. Just been to garage to check they are the later style, they are so I hope I'm ok. I also recently got the aluminium sump guard. I can't be bothered to go into the garage to fit them today, it's too bl**dy cold, and sleeting. I'm getting very soft and nesh in my old age, I must retire to southern spain.
