Here's mine at just over 4,000 km. I opened up the cap and drained it into an old rag then capped again. Easy to spot from the right side of the bike.

I had a little less oil in my tube, I also drained it. At the first service I asked about it and was told it's 'blow by' until the rings full seat in. I check it every once and awhile and have not seen anymore.
I had a 2001BMW R1200C and they recommended non-synthetic oil for the first 5000 miles so the rings can 'seat in' properly.

I STILL own a 2001 R1200c, and I definitely waited until after the bike had 10k on it and switched to Amsoil. A pretty good BMW mechanic told me regular oil is best in the beemer, but I haven't had an issue with mine at all. As for the drain tube, the first time i noticed it was when i spotted a small oil drip on my floor. Looked under the bike and saw the tube filled with what seemed to be oil. I have drained it twice and haven't seen any real amount in there since.
