When Marzocchi struggled in the late part of the recession (OK, they're Italian, they've struggled off and on forever!), the big suspension multicorp Tenneco swooped in and bought the firm. Now, just a few years later, Tenneco has decided to shutter the firm entirely.
I'm thinking this leaves a real gap in the mid-market, with Sachs (owned by ZF) the only major player left in the space between base level and top-level OEM suppliers (the aftermarket should be alright). Firms like Piaggio (Aprilia and Guzzi), KTM and others will be (and hopefully already have been) searching out alternatives for their bikes, but this is going to be a bit of a muddle...
