Today I parked my new, 2014 Stelvio in a parking lot while I went in to get a soda. It was about 85 degrees and the bike was in the sun. The sun was shining directly onto the dashboard. When I returned to it about 15 minutes later, the LCD screen had gone completely black. It was completely unreadable. I was about 60 miles from home so I headed out on the freeway and gauged my speed by the tach. Almost immediately it slowly began to fade back to its original state and after about 10 miles on the freeway it was back to normal. During that ten miles it had lots of air flowing around it and it was no longer in the direct sunlight. I assume it didn't like the heat and the sun on it. In the future I will throw something over it if I find myself in that situation again.

Somewhere in the 1400 manual it states this is not an abnormal condition..I guess it is the same for the Stelvio

I have had it go in the complete opposite direction and go completely blank (grey) after being in the sun for a while. Returned to normal once it was out of the sun and cooled down.

I had that happen to mine and they replaced it under warranty. It did clear up before they replaced it.

i have not heard of this, but I have always tossed my gloves there, guess i will continue to do so:)

Yes, very typical. Keep them covered in direct sunlight.

I normally set my helmet on the tank / instrument panel which protects the panel from the sun, but the panel in mine has turned dark gray when exposed to full sun for a bit, returns to normal in a few minutes. I had a gen 1 Yamaha Seca 750 that did the same thing so I wasn't too concerned.

Well, like I said, an interesting phenomenon. Moto Guzzi ownership is nothing if not interesting.
