Hello,

This is my first post on this forum, so please excuse me if it is not in the right section. I want to buy my first Moto Guzzi. I fell in love with the v7 850 gt, but it turns out to be rare and quite expensive. Because I don't have 10k to spend on a motorcycle right now, I started to look at other options, and found the California II. Second hand they are readily available, and within my budget.

When checking out the California II, are there any model-specific things to look out for? I've had a couple of bikes, and do some basic wrenching, so I'm not too new at that, but every bike has it's own weak points. ;)

Hey, I just bought mine yesterday. Love the bike, I come from the Hayabusa world. It took me 10 minutes to figure out the heel toe shifting. And it took me most of the morning to get out of the Veloce mode. The manual doesnt explain it too clearly. Im about to go on my 2nd ride of the day. I cant believe how good it handles. I will post pics later. So, to answer your question. I think I would Dealer support would be the biggest factor. Closest one to me is in Richmond...120 miles away from Virginia Beach. I used to have one 55 miles away but its no longer authorized. I never like Harley's or the people who buy them. They watch one season of "Sons", and they are born again hard. I drove 315 miles to Eurosports in Cooperburg,PA yesterday to pick up a 14 C1400. Spent 3 hours there talking to the awesome staff and every Moto Guzzi customer that came in was cool and friendly and so happy about my bike. So that in itself was worth the distance I will have to drive for service. And dont get me started on how great this bike feels to ride. Just go for it.

The Cali 2 is a great bike. I have years and lots of mileage with out any problems. There were a few recalls
I believe cam related..I would check to see if done. The new 2 models were hydraulic..no valve adjustment needed.. IMHO much more reliable than the new 1400!!! ..Tho not as powerful and smooth..still a great running bike
Good Luck enjoy!!
