Hi,

I have an '09 Stelvio, and I'm looking to trade it in on a newer NTX model.

Is there any specific buying advice anyone can give, i.e things to check?
Also, have there been any revisions between production years? Of the two options I'm considering, one is 2010, and the other 2013. Both have +-16,000 miles on the clock.

Go for the 2013. The 2010 is the same style as yours. No upgrade from what you currently have. The model changes were in 2012 (2011 in Europe).

The 2013 is the newer style with the larger tank and should have roller tappets instead of the flat tappet you have right now. I say should as there was stories of some 2013 still having the flats but nothing a 5 minute inspection under the valve cover won't tell you. Will also not have the potential for cam failure as they were revised for the newer models. If it is the NTX version it will have ABS. Not sure if you 2009 has it but I don't believe so. From 2012 to current (2011 in Europe) not much changed from year to year other than colour.

I would go for the 2013 as it should be the newer model that has the bigger fuel tank, traction control and ABS as well as a few other small improvements on your existing bike. If it is a genuine 2013 build model, it will have the roller tappets (they changed from flat to roller sometime in mid 2012) but be careful and check the model year. I bought a 2013 UK registered stelvio 8v in August but it was a 2011 build model, I was aware of that and was expecting it to have flat tappets but I lucked out as it already had the rollers fitted which was a bonus.

Best of luck,
