just noticed that i have a slight oil weep on right hand side. it isn't the rocker cover and doesn't appear to be coming from high up.

any suggestions before i start stripping off the plastic ?
regards
Jim Mac

Could be the o-ring for the spark plug tunnel. If leak is from below the head, a picture would help.

will try with a pic later. looking down the plug tunnel shows it clean and plug is unstained.

Perhaps the gasket between the oil pan and the intermediate ring.
I've expierenced it once with my Breva 1200. A matter of faulty assembly during production of the bike.
Here in the Netherlands currently someone has a blown gasket in the oil circuit at the location of the oil sump.
Italians and assembling a gasket is not a good combination. :)

Looks like it may be the head gasket. If you don't have a roller tappet bike, this would be the time to do the conversion. Another possibility, Pete Roper has mentioned that some of these heads have plugs in them from machine work in drilling oil galleys. It could be one of these plugs is leaking.

i 'consulted' with Pete, he reckons it is most likely the breather pipe from the back of the cam cover loosening off or cracked. i will check that first

I have a 2012 Norge that had a similar leak that turned out to be the oil pressure sensor. Changing the compression washer did not fix it - had to replace the sensor.

I changed the pressure sensor a couple of months back. Turned out to be the oil tube at rear of the right hand cylinder was loose, tightned up and job done, well at least will be when all the plastic is back on
