I'm torn between the two looks on the Racer - with or without seat cowl!
So, as a bit of fun, what's your opinion? With or without? Dressed or naked!
I've also removed the silly little fly screen above the front number plate.
Also, do any of you know of any smaller mirrors that look good?
Cheers
Jenkins.

Since you want opinions, I'll give you mine. I think that the cowls are pretentious. Doubly so with the large numbers on them.

Wow. What made you so angry today? !
All opinions are welcome, but I did say it was only for fun!

I love mine with it. I also removed the small fly screen. How about buying another saddle and change the upholstery on it. Maybe a seat for two, with a retro look

I'am not sure about it too.
If you remove the seat cowl then you must remove the numbe plate on the headlight. Then it will look complete.
nowadays I'm riding with all 3 number plates on but when my passenger kit arrives I will remove all of them and try a naked look. if it looks ok to me then i will go on with it even with mono seat or seat for 2.

If they made a cowl without the # plate, that would be the way to go. Unfortunately they don't, so leave it off because it looks silly.

You can buy the front number plate, unpainted. Might be an idea to have one, painted black with a discreet MG eagle on it. I've got the transfer made, might get the number plate and try it. The other option is to have an aliminium fly screen made, and maybe polish it, and have the same discreet MG logo. I think that is the way to go. I work next to a fabrication specialist so I might pop in and see what he can do.
I'm reluctant to not have a fly screen as I don't want all the road dirt and bugs getting into the nooks and crannies behind the clocks. I'll keep you posted if I get one made.
I don't want to go with a double seat as this bike is a toy just for me! I'm lucky enough to have two other bikes that have room for my pillion.

That number 7 thing all over the bike looks crazy. That could attract some young hot chics chewing bubble gum with heavy eye make up.

It just looks too San Franciscoish.

I needed the 2-up seat for my wife so I got that when I first bought my bike. I had them leave the seat cowl off and soon bought the MAS Engineering flr-screen of a member here for a reasonable money. I have seen some folks do nice things with seats. Seen one that had a brown insert so is a similar theme as the stock single. Here is how mine looks currently. Recently added the Mistral exhaust. Have the MAS polished fenders but haven't had time for them and I also have Todd's retro valves/head guard on order as well.

I do not like the decal....too big but had it lying around. Will replace with something smaller like the "stick-eagle" next time I am placing a parts order.

Took mine off the day I bought it, dug it out of storage the day I sold it. Like the solo look for around town, like the room to move around with the regular seat for touring.

I'll be happy to sell you my "almost like new" Dart fly screen, taken off my V7II Stone, for significantly less than the new price.

I will be taking my cowl off but have replaced with this:

The two plates are aluminum and come unpainted and without numbers. There is a white vinyl sticker which can be placed on it to make up the white background in the picture but I do not plan to use them. I purchased these plates from Barracuda. I eventually plan on getting an aluminum front fairing as well. I personally like having side plates and a front fairing. The side plates makes the rear look more complete imho as I am not a fan of seeing through the back end between the tyre and the fender. I don't even really mind the numbers, but may opt to get a set of chrome seven's in future as they suit the chrome tank. Not sure though, may just leave it blank or painted matt black. Time will tell...

Different strokes for different folks.....

I don't understand why someone would run racing number plates on a street bike. On a slow street bike it makes even less sense to me.
Around here people that run number plates on their street bikes tend to fall into the "squid" category. But I can't imagine a Guzzi rider being in that category.

I agree for my taste I do not care for them on this bike, but the company itself put on the plates with the 7's on there so why not if it is what you like. If you are a "side plate-guy" I like the ones from Barracuda better than the stock.

Though I genuinely do see your point, I decided to buy into MG's stance that its a tribute bike to their history and not an indication of the bike's ability to outperform an FZ09, so to speak. At 39, I felt the mature choice would have been a V7 classic but I personally wasn't ready to grow up just yet! ;)

+1 :)

I see plenty of historical and contemporary examples of scramblers and cafe racers with number plates. Just seems to be the thing to do. Like Bob said, at the end of the day, who cares who has what on their bike so long as they are happy with the end result.
