All electrics die when attempting a start

You can save a lot of space using lithium but, yeah, its still not that bulletproof of a technology.
Agreed as it should not be done for weight or size on any Guzzi outside of perhaps a V7; BUT as a statement of facts not intend for debate: Lithium technology, much like like Power Commanders after 15+ years, people still think they aren't bullet-proof either. There's always the exception. I personally didn't have good experience with Shorai, which is why I went looking for another brand. All others outside of the one I use and sell, were far worse then even Shorai. Tesla uses only Lithium technology, as does Porsche, Mercedes and others, even in racing applications (mostly).
As with everything, once educated, you'll have a different view. To each their own. Onward.

I have tried a few AGM batteries, but not that specific one. What I find is that some AGM batteries work better than others, and the ones I have found to work best for me don't offer one in that size. I have one in the bike now that is OK, but once you know how good it can be, and how long it can last, other lesser batteries just disappoint.

Agreed....never know how good you have it.....

Do a search on Texas Toast Battery Cook Off. They did a test of the popular AGM batteries and Motobatt came on top in several of the categories. Now it was done 6 years ago and others may have caught up to the reliability, but I know that many of the Stelvio riders love the battery as the replacement for the stock Yuasa. Same goes for the Stelvio, hard to find a replacement AGM that will fit.

I will keep that in mind for next time I need a battery for my Griso.
I do believe that Lithium batteries CAN work very well. But they can also not work very well. And if I pay more money for something and it doesn't deliver I get pissed. I would be interested in trying the Lithium battery brand Todd sells. But at just under $300 for a battery I am a bit gun shy.

I actually tried the lithium route with the Stelvio. Read all the reviews, looked at all the specs and tried it. Lasted two days on the bike and I pulled it. Just never had enough juice to turn it over properly to get a good start. Sluggish and if I had my heated seat on when starting it was a no go. Cold Canadian weather made it worse. They have since come out with higher CCA versions but didn't see the value in it. My AGMs have been working fine.

The good news is I put it in my WeeStrom and it has worked fine there. Way overkill on the CCA but spins it to life quite quickly so not a total loss.

One of the things I do with my G11 every time I take off the battery cables is take a piece of sandpaper to the leads and lead battery terminals. They may be coppery but they're not Bright coppery after a while. Dielectric grease or not.
I do too, but never with Sandpaper.
It can leave grit embedded in the Posts/Terminals, and if too coarse can reduce the contact surface area, causing issues later.

Best to use something like Green Scotchbrite or Steel-Wool, or lightly scrape with a Craft-Knife blade.

Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly) is good to keep moisture away.

So here is what it is doing right now.

I will turn the key on and the dash and parking lights come on as normal, dash does its checks thing. I push the starter button and I get a "click" from the starter motor and everything goes dark. Dash goes off, parking lights go off, etc. I turn the key off and the alarm light flashes like normal, turn the key back on and nothing. Go ahead and ride of on other bike and mess with it later.

Get home a few hours later and its the same. So I figure blown fuse. Pull all of the fuses to check and all are fine. But the act of pulling the fuses kind of "resets" the system and the dash and parking lights will come on again but if I attempt a start I get the click and all of it dies.

The battery shows up at 12.4v on the multimeter. I know motorcycle electrics can be sensitive sometimes but never seen this. Any ideas?

Add a couple of ground straps. Battery to engine or trans & engine to frame.

In my case it was simply the electronics acting oddly to a voltage drop from a battery that would only partially charge.
